This event is the single poorest managed event I have ever attended. I have worked in event management across the states and other countries for 10+ years. If an investment is not made in crowd control, emergency accommodations, and health safety, people WILL get hurt. Please make these necessary investments so that a wonderful event can take place. There are so many aspects of this event that could make it great such as the culture, vendors, and decorations. These aspects of the event deserve to be enjoyed as there is clearly thought and passion involved in the planning, however the aspects that fall short hold the community back from achieving the correct balance so that attendees can be safe. Maybe consider making this a ticketed event (even if tickets are free) in order to implement some type of crowd control. Local authorities need to be more involved for an event this size. The food vendor section of the event reaked of what I can only describe as poor sanitation and food safety practices. This is not the vendors fault; event management is at fault. I could go on but thatâs for them to figure out. Donât waste your time going until they solve...
Read moreChristkindlmarkt 2023. Please, for the love of all that is festive, I beg you to implement some kind of crowd control measures next year. We went to the last day of the market, a Saturday, and expected it to be busy. What we did not expect was literal shoulder to shoulder crowds, no line management, and moving at a shuffle pace to get around. The market is just too cramped, and there needs to be some sort of line management system. The sidewalk is too narrow to accommodate booths on each side, two-way traffic, and shoppers on each side. No line management led to walking traffic coming to a standstill.
Consider running the market thru Sunday! Weekend demand canât be squished into just Saturday. The long hours are great, but not everyone is SLC is Mormon, therefore no reason why the market canât also run on Sunday.
We wouldâve stayed longer and spent more if we could have gotten into more booths.
You get an extra star because the park decorations looked very nice, the vendors and staff were friendly, and the food was good. If youâre lucky, Krampus will bring you your other three...
Read moreDo you want to spend an hour sitting in lines of cars being directed through a maze of parking lots that are all full and closed? Do you want to be packed together like you're in a standing-room-only concert with everyone coughing on you in freezing temperatures? Do you want to pay $55 for three bratwurst the size of budget hot dogs and have the vendor get angry when they ask you for a tip and you say no because they didn't serve you and you're paying $55 for three hot dogs? Do you want to pay $35 for a small jar of local honey, or twice as much for items from local businesses compared to buying them in their stores on a regular day? How about a bunch of stuff that people bought off Amazon or Alibaba and are reselling for twice the price? Do you want to walk in a large column of silent people while being stared at by a silent crowd and pretend you're in a parade? If your answer to these questions is yes, then this market is for you. Everyone else should reconsider. We'll never be...
