When I found out a child I know was recovering from surgery, I asked the mom if I could send a gift. I called the hospital, CHOP, and they said I had to order through lorisgifts.com. I went to the site, located the hospital and there were barely any gifts available. Eventually I found another link and ordered a stuffed animal and some flowers around 12:00pm on a Tuesday. I listed the child under their nickname, but the lastname matched exactly. First, the mother had to walk all around the hospital per her email or text to retrieve the gifts. When she arrived, only the stuff animal was there, not the flowers. A few hours later the flower delivery came from some unknown source (no where was it obvious the flowers were on on hand), we are not local to the area so we had to rely on the hospital gift shop. Then the texts starting rolling in that the child was in an area of the hospital that did not allow any outside deliveries. So How would I know this was an outside delivery when I ordered from the actual gift shop in the hospital? How would the parent know this either, as they did not? Why doesn't the gift shop order form know from room numbers placed in this system what is allowed to be delivered depending on the room number? After I found out the flowers wouldn't be delivered, I asked for a refund. Then I received a series of texts not refusing my refund request but not approving the refund request. The texts asked me to do the following instead of receiving a refund: Consider lifting the spirits of the hospital staff by donating the order to the Nurse's station or floor that took care of my loved one. We can facilitate the order to be delivered to another needy patient or family member of your choice. At your request we might be able to deliver the order to a new address near the original delivery address. We're happy to offer a Store Credit for another event in the future. I then, again, texted the store that I already have my donations planned for the year and I want a full refund. The store then sent the same email to me again requesting I choose one of the 4 options above (to avoid getting a refund). I then texted the store that I will call my credit card to resolve this if I do not receive a refund today. Here we are at 7:17pm and I still have no refund. I will be calling my credit card to resolve this. I highly suggest delivering your gifts to the sick person directly or wait until they are out of the hospital to avoid this unprofessional run around I...
Read moreUpdate: within an hour of posting my review, an Ops Manager for the company called to apologize and make this right. While not a bedside delivery in the hospital, Bill was able to work some magic and get same-day delivery of flowers in rural Mississippi. I’m increasing to three stars for quick response from the corporate level.
Such a disappointing experience. If you search specifically for a service to deliver to a hospital and choose from their less-than-great selection of gifts just so you can have something at your loved one’s bedside in the hospital, it’s really REALLY disappointing if that gift does not actually get delivered in the hospital but instead is re-routed to the patient’s home. If I wanted something delivered to their home, I could have selected from hundreds of much better quality gift delivery services. My BiL had surgery early in the morning and was assigned to a room by early afternoon. This service claims to begin deliveries in the afternoon, but they did not deliver the gift at all that whole day nor the next morning. All attempts at communication with the company were answered with “provide us a home address and we’ll deliver it there free of charge”. That is missing the entire point of ordering from this service. If they can’t meet a specific window of time for a delivery, they should say that up front so we can order from...
Read moreEdit: The operations manager reached out to try to rectify the situation. Although I appreciate the gesture I do believe it should be mentioned on the website that same day delivery means delivered to the address, not the recipient. I changed my rating from 1 to 3 stars in recognition they tried retroactively to correct the situation.
Purchased a same day get well bouquet and balloon. 14.95 for same day delivery and 8.99 for the balloon. Patient just received the bouquet, no balloon. When I reported nothing had been delivered to HGS they sent a time stamp of delivery, no proof of signature or where the gift was left and offered nothing further. I am in a different country and couldn't follow up in person. My sister and father who were supposed to be by my mother's side went around the hospital asking for the flowers but they could not be found. It took 3 days for them to show up. Extremely disappointing experience and lack of customer service all I can say is avoid this company! Picture of flowers received, I think they look a bit...
