If you have experience with firearms and are willing to to be taught, you will appreciate and benefit from the quality of instruction here. The staff brings significant experience to bear and does not teach what you see in the movies. Emphasis here is on safe and responsible handling of firearms employing clean-lines, smooth manipulation, accurate shot placement and judicious use of it all, at speed, when all other defense has failed.
Now, if you have little or no experience with firearms you will most likely be surprised at the comfort and confidence you will begin to feel as you are directed and guided by the staff and you too will appreciate and benefit from the quality of instruction here. The introduction of the new habits and skills learned in "Handgun I" could potentially save a life from the hands of a bad guy or frankly, from your own hand. You might then choose to continue to develop these skills which are the basis for the more advanced and varied coursework that is offered.
All firearm owners owe it to themselves and the rest of us to be competent in the safe and judicious handling of their gun, and training with ITTS provides an excellent resource to acquire or hone those skills in a safety-conscious environment. I grew up around firearms and spent considerable time over 35 years at the range before the suggestion of a friend and a gift from my wife took me to the first of many classes at ITTS. Consider this my suggestion to you to look into training there, it is a...
Read moreSpent a very educational and eye-opening weekend with ITTS' new class, Tactical Concepts. This course filled a critical gap in my firearms proficiency - bridging the space between pure marksmanship and real-world application.
The class provided structure, guidelines, and valuable considerations on when to use lethal force, how to apply it effectively, and how to do so while minimizing collateral risks and maximizing the chances of prevailing in court (especially important here in California). Most importantly, it emphasized how to carry yourself in a way that reduces the likelihood of ever needing to deploy lethal force in the first place.
For context, I have a competitive shooting background and am confident in my ability to put accurate rounds on target quickly - both in a square-range and more dynamic settings. My weakness? Applying that skill in real-world situations. Marksmanship is just one side of the coin. Tactics - the knowledge of how and when to employ that marksmanship - is the other. This class helped tie those two sides together, showing how to maximize survivability during an incident and in the post-incident aftermath involving law enforcement, prosecutors, jurors, and the inevitable Monday-morning quarterbacks.
Looking forward to ITTS creating Tactical Concepts 2 and 3... Highly recommend for anyone who wants to take their skills beyond just...
Read moreIf you are serious about being a responsible gun owner, ITTS is the place to get your education. Any person (male or female) will walk away from their handgun 1 course feeling confident in their ability to safely handle a firearm, and shoot with a level of accuracy. My father (68) and I (35) thoroughly enjoyed working with all the instructors as they shared their knowledge and experience with us. Having multiple instructors in our class allowed each student to receive plenty of one on one time throughout the course, which proved to show great results from all the students. We both cant wait to take the next class.
The comradery and banter made it even more enjoyable. It was such a fun...
