Renuka, who is the designer of Riiti Fashions, is so friendly, helpful and accommodating. I had six outfits made and I love them! The selection she has to work with is amazingly broad and diverse and she can work with other fabrics and completely custom orders as well. Out of my six garments, three of them were completely custom orders from scratch while the other three were based off of existing fabric+embroidery sets.
PLACE OF OPERATION: Renuka operates our of her beautiful home in Evergreen, so you get some good one-on-one focus without the distractions of a store in a mall. She has a large room where you can try on garments and sample fabrics. In there, there is a large selection of blouses, skirts, salwars, kurtis and saris to choose from, as well as many fabric sets to browse through, and a full-length mirror to see yourself in. There is also a comfortable and quiet sitting area on the other side of the hall where you can relax if there is another customer being serviced at the time. She has one more room adjacent to the fitting room where you can privately change your clothes if she is already working with another customer.
The home that she works out of is very clean and I did not smell any strong fragrances, so the clothing that you get from Riiti fashions does not have any strange odors, smoke or incense residue. I did not smell any pet smells or see any pet hair either. The flooring is all hard, with no carpet, so there are no stray fibers to affect the garments.
GARMENT QUALITY: The dyes used on the cloth seem to be safe and do not have strong smells. The embroidery craftsmanship is top notch. I did not get any beadwork done, so I cannot comment much on that, but the beadwork that I saw on other garments looked like it was done by a very skilled hand. The same goes for mirror and glass features on garments that I saw. I had one garment made that includes small sequins and the skill put into that looks very masterful.
She has a wide variety of different types of silks, cottons, georgettes and other fabrics to browse through and they're all high quality. Again, she can also work with fabrics that she does not readily have on hand, which she did for me for two of my garments.
BUSINESS STYLE: Renuka has a modern approach to her operation, using Pinterest to browse styles and fabrics, saving them off to a custom Pinterest Board for you and then narrowing down the options over time before designing the final outfits. I really appreciated this modern approach, especially since she can then send the Pinterest Board off to me so that I can easily reference it later. Likewise, I am now working on another Pinterest Board of my own for getting ideas for my next garments and I'll later send that Board off to Renuka when I am ready to start working on future designs.
In addition to using Pinterest, Renuka also accepts all major credit cards for payment, which is another great modern approach to her operation.
For my order, which was six salwar kameez garments (3 from existing fabric sets, 3 totally custom) ordered in late June, the order was completed in late August. The original estimate she gave me was late August to early September, so her estimate was very accurate.
Renuka walked me through an itemized breakdown of the charges for each garment both when I placed the order and when I picked up and paid the balance (I put a percentage down at the time of ordering) on the completed order, so I new exactly what I was paying for. She even re-ran all of the original calculations in front of me at the end to make sure that there were no discrepancies in the balance due.
A nice perk: Because of how many garments I ordered, she did not charge me for the embroidery.
Working with Renuka's Riiti Fashions was a wonderful experience, all around, yielding breathtaking garments for both casual and formal occasions and the garments fit me perfectly. I will definitely be going back to her...
Read moreI got married earlier this year. My wedding was not planned much in advance, due to some reasons and I didn't have much time to get my outfit organized from India, so I frantically started looking up options locally. I asked around and also checked online. Went to all the stores that were recommended, in Milpitas, Sunnyvale and San Jose but I just didn't like anything. Either the price was exorbitant or the outfits were not beautiful enough for my wedding. Finally I found Riiti Fashions, but I called Renuka and went there without much enthusiasm, almost certain that this place would also turn out to be like the others. As you can guess, I was in for a pleasant surprise. All the outfits she had were gorgeous, good quality and what's more, reasonably priced. Even before I finalized my outfit, I knew that I was finally going to walk out with my wedding dress. EVERYONE at the wedding reception loved the outfit & asked me about it. What's more, Renuka was very friendly & helpful, she even went to the extent of helping me with some of the jewelry that she had at home, at no cost, which she really did not have to do, but did just because she is such a great person. Now that's what I call customer service. For anyone looking for Indian outfits, I would say check out Riiti Fashions for sure, you wont be disappointed. Thanks a ton Renuka, you are the...
Read moreMy coworker gifted me a saree. I had no experience wearing a saree and I needed a blouse. I found this place online as it is close to my home, and went with some trepidation since I didn’t know what to expect. The onwer, Renuka, was very kind. She helped me picked out a blouse matching the saree, and tried to teach me how to wear the saree. When I told her that I don’t think I can pleat, fold or tuck the fabric as she showed me, she offered to stitch them so that the pleats will stay in place. When I came back a week later, the tailoring has made the saree almost like a wrap skirt that is so easy to wear. I feel more confident and plan to wear it for a Durja Puja event with my coworkers. Renuka was very patient and offered me solutions that made me comfortable as someone new to saree. I also checked out some of her collection and bought 2 more casual sets that I plan to wear during Diwali. They are more comfortable to wear but no less beautiful in design and fabric. I look forward to wearing them! It has been a charming experience and I highly recommend it if you want to try...
