Foodbox — Local services in San Marcos

I try to err on the side of positivity here. Most of my reviews reflect that. On the afternoon of 03/23/25, at 2:10pm, I stopped here to gas up and get some drinks after a much needed bathroom break from awful IH35 traffic. Bathroom was on the top of my list but they completely closed it down for a mid Sunday afternoon deep cleaning. The cleaning itself is not an issue. In fact, keeping my the space clean is a welcome task. The individual cleaning the bathroom did so without any sense of urgency- walking from the bathroom to throw away a spray bottle, and then put on gloves before walking back to the bathroom to do an unseen task. They’d then walk back to the utility cart, take off their gloves, put on new gloves and choose a cleaning towel, before walking back to do another unseen task. This would happen two or three more times before they walked back, took off their gloves, put on new gloves, and mopped the entire bathroom. The person disappeared for a few minutes to find a fan to dry the floor. Why wasn’t the fan preppped beforehand? At this point, I asked the cleaner how much longer would it take and I was informed that it would be ten more minutes after waiting for fifteen. For a gas station that is on one of the busiest highways in Texas, this seems like an infinitely poor practice. I got my bathroom relief (along with a full tank of gas and drinks), at a national brand gas station up the road along with SIX other people in line left with me. This place is ridiculous with its price gouging at this point. Many things don’t have a price, I was charged 3.49 for one ICEE that fell apart or melted to less than half the cup by the time I paid for it. This store has movie theater prices with the way they charge for the items. The food items such as the bread and pastries always look old or expired and slimy. I have seen expired items still on the shelf for sale. The check out lady has an attitude and the owner seems to sit around on his phone every time I have gone. I don’t go to this convenience store because I want to, I have stopped because it was the nearest store when I needed something. The which which has been fine so far. This is an awkward place for a Convenience store as it's much further South that I normally go and is between Kyle and San Marcos on the northbound side of IH35. This place just opened and has a Which Which, which is not open as of yet. The store was very clean and well stocked. I was impressed they had my energy drink that I like to drink in stock. I quickly grabbed a drink and snack and checked out.
