Perfect Fit Design & Alterations — Local services in San Marino

I took my bridesmaid dress to Perfect Fit for alterations, and I have never been more disappointed. People of Pasadena and local areas, these people are overcharging you. BIG TIME. I went in for my first fitting, which had major problems. They had made an error in the bust line, and tulle was sticking up over the bodice. I was quoted $160. They said they would fix it (their mistake by the way) sew in cups, and hem the bottom of the dress two inches. When I came back today for my Amsale bridesmaid dress, I walked into the store to a whopping $238 bill. Apparently three small items cost an additional $80!!!! Not only are they overcharging for their "services" they are not doing them adequately. I left to try the dress on at home and immediately cried. The dress was more ill fitting than when I initially brought it in. The bottom portion of the fishtail was raised to a portion of my leg where I am now unable to move fully, the boning on the bodice remained completely untouched (which any skilled and seasoned trailer would have known to alter in a garment that needs to be cinched in the waist). I am unable to lift my arms without showing inappropriate body parts. The dress simply is unwearable 5 days before my best friends wedding.

I was forced to take my dress today to Elegance of San Marino, on Mission, to try and repair some of the damage that had been done. She was much more reasonably priced, had higher ratings, and even removed the fabric to show me what little real work had actually been done to make my dress fit my body.

I will be taking both mine and my families business elsewhere. If you love being overcharged and swindled, go to Perfect Fit, that's about the only thing they...

I was really unhappy with my experience and I didn't plan to write a review but since the lady just called to yell at me, I decided I should write a review. In June I took in (6) swimsuit pieces. After they made the adjustments/pinning, I asked for a ticket, she said they didn't do that (which I found odd). Instead she told me to just write my name and number in pencil in a paper notebook. I asked for a price range and she said she'd "call me with an estimate". I was super nervous about leaving my stuff there without a claim ticket so I even sent myself an email as I was leaving with what I had left and that no ticket was provided. A few days go by and I don't hear anything so I called them for the estimate. Due to pricing (which is totally understandable for alterations), I told her to just do two of the six pieces. A couple of the swimsuit bottoms I took in were very similar, I asked her to only alter the more inexpensive one since I could just replace the other bottoms with a smaller size for cheaper. I repeated which ones to do more than once since it was about a $70 price difference. About a week goes by, no call again, so I call and she says she lost my phone number and they're ready for pick up. I go to pick them up and she did the wrong bottoms and told me those were the ones I told her to do and argued that those were the ones I had told her to alter. When I got home I also found out that she had sewn the wrong pads into the top she altered and the alterations on the bottoms (that she wasn't supposed to do) were ill-fitting. An amazing experience start to finish. The seamstress (whose name I am unfortunately blanking on but I believe she is also the owner) is clearly an expert in her craft as well as incredibly kind and accommodating. I brought in a bridesmaid dress on a tight timeline before the wedding and the work she did was beautiful, efficient, and cost effective. Though the price ultimately was quite expensive, I was prepared to pay that considering the number of alterations I needed and the fact that tailoring is a complex art form, one that she has a lot of experience with, plus her work is well worth it. I have scoliosis, so my hips and shoulders are a bit uneven. She custom fit the dress so perfectly, in ways I didn’t even realize it needed, and I’ve never had an article of clothing fit better. She even advised me on the best bra to wear and made me feel very comfortable throughout the entire fitting. I will definitely be returning for all formal wear alterations....
