The best place I've discovered near UCSC campus so far. It's only a short, easy walk from the road by campus and it has tons of amazing things to see (be prepared for mud though) . You can follow the spring from where it comes above ground to the koi pond itself (complete with ~15 large goldfish) down the steep hillside. There are all sorts of cool lime deposits from the spring and it goes above and below ground frequently which is cool to see. Finally had to park in the overlook lot and walk along the highway to the trailhead (road gated and locked) to access. Quick walk in and easy to find. The old kiln was an added benefit. You have to park in one of the trailheads and walk the trail to access the pond. The pond is only 6’ by 6’. I only see a few small fish. The water is cloudy after the rain.
