We camped here in an RV for the month of March. PROS... Spacious sites, very clean, good playgrounds, nice lakes, fun feeding ducks, no one was catching any fish while we were there. CONS... NO CELL SERVICE (We have Verizon and have never before had a problem) We had to drive 2 miles to the front of the park to get any cell service. Horrible WiFi..... Nothing usable. And their TV is a joke.... You only get a few stations and, especially in the evenings, the picture will just freeze with lines through it, prohibiting any further viewing (see photo attached). The office will simply tell you to contact the WiFi company, or cable company. But everyone else we talked with during our 30 day stay complained about the same things. We were told we were in a dead zone for cell service - between an airport and military base. Sites are very sandy. Even with a mat down, lots of it makes it's way into RV.

We would recommend this place for a day use... But not for any...

Wasn't bad with the exception of a tree filled with bee's, a itty bitty sign that said "bee activity" or something. The staff didn't have the courtesy to let us know ahead of time, even though the staff marked it with a sign. As a result, I was stung multiple times, bees got into the frame of my coach, and made their way into my bedroom and stung me while I slept.....and I'm not kidding. Anyone who says if you leave bee's alone and they won't sting is full of s*it, by the way. Net, net; spot 158 shouldn't be available for rent with all those bees. Other than that Santee Lakes has all amenities for a pleasant stay. My wife and I enjoyed hearing kids play and an atmosphere that seems like another world, time, and place. We may return, we still don't know. The bees really made it an uncomfortable weekend since we couldn't...

Spent 30 days there this summer. Here is the good and not great parts. By the lakes (no swimming as the water is reclaimed but they do have catch and release fishing) which we were the spots are large and wide. In the main camping area the spots ranged from decent to pretty tight just depended in the row. 2 Pools and hot tub nice, playground for kids nice (we did not have kids though). Wifi horrible, cell service almost non existent we have verizon but everyone had the same issue. Now here is the hmmm. They are raise the rates big time come 1/31/24. The spot we were in is going up 60% up confirmed with 2 different camp hosts. So if your booking next year it will cost you. Not sure if we would go back because of the rates and above...

I stayed there in an RV for several days and overall it was a blast. The camping spaces are huge and there's plenty of parking. There's two decent pools and a nice, newer playground. I especially like how they keep the bathrooms and showers really clean as well. Aside from all of this, there's a lot of good fishing, you can rent paddle boats and bikes, and other activities. If you do decide to rent the paddle boats just beware of some of the geese, who may chase you down and peck at your face.
