Maklin Bike Shop — Local services in Scandia

Who expects a nice bike shop to pop up in SHAFER MN?! But I am REALLY glad they're here! Haven't been inside because - you know, pandemic - but if it's even remotely as put-together as their website is, then they've done a great job.

I'm normally a gym girl, but with the gyms all closed I had to dust off my bike, which I acquired when my meth'd out neighbor dumped it on my lawn circa 2009 and never came back. It wasn't a nice bike back then, and the last 11 years haven't done the thing any favors. Maklin did a really nice job of taking care of me and got me setup with a new seat, a tire, and a tube with the CORRECT valve. I appreciate that they carry products in a wide price range since I am not a fancy bikey person.

They were fast communicators and told me about a nearby bike trail about which I'd been completely unaware. I rode that trail for an hour yesterday! I'm weirdly attached to my sketchy meth bike but if I ever decide to upgrade to a nice one, I'll definitely be getting one...

JUST WOW - Went to Maklin to buy a tire for my kids MTB. Super helpful in the selection of the tire for the riding we were doing and the tools needed to make the transfer (I like to fix stuff so buying tools to learn to do it myself are my thing). Got home and it appears the MFG had the wrong size tire in the packaging. There was zero excuses made from Maklin for an issue they DID NOT create. They just worked on fixing the issue and went above and beyond. I drove 30 min to pick up these parts and these guys have my future business even though there are bike shops closer. This shop has been an awesome to have in town! They’ve gotten my tri bike running perfectly and my mountain bike dialed in, too. The mechanic is top-notch, skilled and clearly knows bikes inside and out. The owners are friendly and genuinely care about getting your bike running right, and getting you in a new bike that’s right for you and fits well.
