Thank you Belmont Village Scottsdale! After years of loneliness with signs of dementia, I knew it was time to make the decision to move my Mom into assisted living. My search began. The Belmont Village Scottsdale answered my prayers. The room options allowed us to keep alot of her beloved belongings so she immediatly felt at home. The exceptiional staff and supportive community made her feel safe and welcome throughout the transition. I feel the size of the Belmont is perfect for my mom to naviagte throughout the building with a feeling of home. I'll never forget the day I called my Mom and her reply was "Sorry I can't talk now I'm too busy" tears of joy! The Belmont offers activities in regular assisted living and offers a wonderful program called Circle of Friends. This program is a 6 hour a day class filled with learning activities, discussions, crafts, cooking etc. using all parts of the brain to help slow down memory loss. The staff and teachers that run this program are outstanding, fun and caring. Every morning my Mom picks up the two schedules and checks off what she would like to participate in. They also have puzzles and activities with incentives to earn gold coins for them to use to purchase things at the Belmont Boutique. Very fun for them. The activity director schedules entertainment one to two times a week. They all have their favorites. Special events with every holiday or just to have!! Special speakers that come in with enjoyable topics. The constant change of decor brings so much joy. The Belmont has a wonderful resturant where you can order off an extensive homemade menu or have their daily specials made by an exceptional chef. The best Thanksgiving dinner I have ever had! My Mom is on a special pureed diet that the amazing kitchen staff has helped me with so much. The caregivers, called Pals are so kind and helpful. The director is always accessible and responsive, easy to talk to and very kind. If you every need the maintenance staff they will have anything fixed promptly. Their Physical Therapy department has helped my mom gain strength and better balance. Outstanding therapists! When I take my Mom out for an appointment she's always anxious to get back in fear she will miss something. I can't tell you how happy that makes me. The stress of my Mom living alone, sad and depressed is gone. She never wanted to leave her condo but now gets up every morning with a full day ahead and goes to bed tired from activities, not depression. Thank you Belmont Village Scottsdale for changing our lives for the...
Read moreMy Father spent the last 10 months of his life at Belmont Village in Scottsdale AZ. He was almost 95 years of age when I moved him from another assisted living community as he needed additional attention. Moving a parent and introducing them to a new environment is always traumatic - but even more so when they are 95- but from our first interview at Belmont Village I knew I was at the right facility. Our initial contact demonstrated a level of warmth, compassion and “can do” attitude that permeated my father’s entire stay at Belmont. When I didn’t know where to go with a question, how to evaluate and re- evaluate my father’s changing needs, there was always a team at Belmont that had my back- with compassion, patience and concern. As a parent reaches these later stages in life , their needs are ever- changing -and in this COVID environment when it is difficult to be on premises, I always felt I had eyes looking at my father’s dynamic situation. The staff was attentive and willing to try different approaches to determine what was best for my father- as there is no perfect blueprint. The staff suggested different therapies- trial and error to see what worked best- always treating my father with the utmost respect and dignity. When my Dad went through a stretch of hallucinations when he believed he was hearing people and noises in his room that clearly did not exist, the Executive Director - the head person in charge of the facility- found the time to sit with my father and assure he would look into a situation that we all knew did not exist. Toward the end, Belmont worked with me to provide my father with basically around the clock- one on one- attention- assuring my father was never alone during his waking hours. Ultimately they coordinated Hospice coming on to the scene without my father ever needing to leave his room at Belmont- always concerned for his safety and comfort....and as my father passed in the comfort of his room and familiar surroundings at Belmont he was truly surrounded by his new found family- one that adopted him as one of their own in such a relatively short time span- and one that will live in my heart with gratitude and affection...
Read moreMy mother moved to Belmont Village in 2019 and lived there until her passing in August 2022 at the age of 94. Prior to living at Belmont, Mom was in an independent living facility that was not set up to provide the level of care she needed. We could not get her to participate in any of the activities provided by the facility, and she was rapidly declining both mentally and physically. My daughter and I selected Belmont specifically because of their Circle of Friends program. Her days became filled with activity designed to make the most of her failing memory, and she had a ready made group of friends. Mom was very shy and hard of hearing, but the Circle of Friends leaders were amazingly successful in getting her to participate.
Mom lived at Belmont during the Covid lockdown, which was certainly a heartbreaking and scary time for anyone with a loved one in a care facility. Belmont not only had excellent Covid protocols, they were very creative in devising ways we could keep in contact - an outdoor Easter parade during the height of Covid, and later on a beautiful Mothers Day brunch on the patio, to name just a couple of examples.
Mom passed away in her room at Belmont, still being cared for by the Pals and nurses she had come to know, along with hospice. As we did not want to put her through moving again, it was a great comfort to know that would not be necessary.
If you are searching for an assisted living facility, I would wholeheartedly suggest you take a look at Belmont. They are not the least expensive facility, but they are worth...
