Pennsylvania American Water — Local services in Scranton

Crews have been working on my street (1100 block of Taylor Ave in Dunmore) for the last 3 weeks! There is one tiny white sign stapled to a post outside my house that says NO PARKING UNTIL JULY 21ST! Today is July 28, 2025! They have both ends of the road blocked so I can not leave my house to do things I need to do! God forbid there is a fire or someone needs an ambulance because no one is getting thru! They have big holes in the ground so there is definitely no way a fire truck or ambulance could get on the street even if the equipment could be moved, and it definitely would not be able to be moved in time to possibly save a life and/or someone's house from burning to the ground! And what if I had a personal emergency? I have an elderly mother and a son. What happens if something happens to them and I need to get out? I CAN NOT!!!! There is really no other place to park off of this street. Actually, there is one place, AND THEY HAVE THAT BLOCKED TOO! I feel like a prisoner in my own house! I have had to miss work and cancel a doctor's appointment because of all of this! I called and filed a complaint, and they told me someone would get back to me by Thursday! It is Monday! So, apparently, for the next 3 days, I will not be able to leave my house! Let me repeat myself... there is only one other place to park off of this street (unless I parked another block over or up and walked to my house, which I will not do and shouldn't have to do), and as I said, they have that blocked too! And even if I could park there, I would have to walk by all of their equipment and a big damn hole in the ground! There was a woman who needed to get to a house on this street. They let her walk by all of their equipment and the big hole in the ground, with flip flops on nonetheless! How safe is that???? This is completely unacceptable! There is no regard for the people living on this street and the lives we have to live! I understand work needs to be done, but there is no need to block both ends...

🚨 URGENT: American Water Failed to Turn On My Service & Won’t Fix Their Mistake! 🚨

I need to call out American Water for their complete failure in handling my service request and their lack of responsibility in addressing a critical emergency.

Yesterday, a technician from American Water came to my property for a scheduled service appointment to turn on my water. I even received an official email confirmation stating:

“Dear valued customer, it was a pleasure to serve you today. Our field representative has completed the following service: Turn on water service. Thank you.”

But guess what? The water was never actually turned on. I now have an urgent situation on my hands, and when I called American Water’s emergency line to get this fixed, they refused to take responsibility and said they cannot handle it right now.

This is completely unacceptable. A basic necessity like water should never be ignored—especially when the mistake is 100% theirs.

American Water, I expect immediate action to correct this issue. You acknowledged the service was completed, yet I have NO water. This is not just an inconvenience—it’s a complete failure of service. Fix this NOW.

If anyone has experienced similar issues with American Water, let me know. Let’s hold them accountable!

6/13/25: UPDATE! They actually lied to the fish commission and made me appear to court for this situation mentioned below, absolutely pathetic how this company doesn't mark things properly then tries to ruin people's lives over a "written warning" thank God the justice system saw through this and dropped the charges.

3/31/25 first time I've ever actually had a conversation with a person working here and it was unbelievably unprofessional. I was just thrown off of Griffin Reservoir in S. Abington Township even though it's a public fishery. I was told I was not allowed to go beyond the gate that I parked at and that I was warned apparently two times about this beforehand when I never was even once especially since this was only my second time ever here with my vehicle. 100s if not 1000s of people fish beyond the gate, party, and ride off-road vehicles daily at this spot but the one man fishing by himself on a Monday morning is the big problem according to these people. It's truly disgusting that they're draining the other local fishing reservoirs such as Dunmore and Curtis and still feel fit to harass fisherman who PAID FOR A LICENSE TO ACCESS THE WATERWAY. this is the worst type of company in existence and the real reason why fishing is dying so fast...
