I originally purchased my John Deere 1025R from Tellus because they were the only dealer with it in stock at the time. The salesperson I worked with was knowledgeable, and I was satisfied with the buying experience. Later, when I had an issue with the rear arms not being able to support weight, they picked up my tractor, repaired it, and returned it free of charge under warranty, which I appreciated.
However, my experience with their service department has been disappointing. I received a safety recall notice for the brakes in September 2024 and was told the repair would be free, take about 30 minutes, and that I should stop using my tractor until the part was replaced. They assured me I would receive a call when the parts arrived, but I never did. After waiting months, I finally called on March 20, 2025, only to be told to bring my tractor in. When I mentioned that I was previously informed they would come to my residence to perform the repair, I was then quoted $250+ for them to come out.
Frustrated, I called another John Deere location and was told that dealers are compensated for 30 mins travel each to and from location and 30 mins to repair with most completing the repair time in 15 mins under the recall. Given my location is only about 38 minutes away, I felt like I was being misled and taken advantage of. Because of this experience, I will be taking my business elsewhere—possibly even switching to Kubota.
