Thyme on the Boardwalk — Local services in Seldovia

My wife and I are approaching our last of 3 nights staying at the Boardwalk Waterfront Suite over Thyme on the Boardwalk. Our stay has been wonderful. If there is a nicer place to stay in Seldovia I would be very surprised. From our arrival where Suzie shuttled our stuff from the dock to now our experience has been perfect. The suite overlooks the tidal slough and the eagles gulls, swallows and ravens have been very entertaining from the perfectly sized little deck. The suite itself is beautiful post and beam construction and very well appointed. There is a kitchen with a stove/ oven, microwave and full size fridge for those inclined to cooking at home (but excellent seafood chowder and other delights are just a short walk away. The bathroom is large and has a very cool tiled shower. The bedroom is large and airy with an excellent king bed. The design was well thought out and is just right for a romantic getaway. To wake to the sound of the sea while cocooned in the fabulous king bed is exactly what the doctor ordered. It is perched on the old boardwalk in possible my favorite community in Alaska-Seldovia. There is much to see and do and everything is an easy walk from the suite. I intend to recommend this fabulous accommodation as often as I can and will for sure...

A Serenade of Serenity and Hospitality: Susie’s Sublime Sactum

After a ferry ride from Cold Bay by way of the Alaska Marine Highway we arrived at Seldovia. The natural beauty exceeded the Amalfi Coast in Italy, the Florida Keys, and the Pacific Coast Highway in California. Smiling at the dock we met our gregarious host “ Suzie “. After a quick tour of town we arrived at our accommodation. Idyllic in nature the house overlooked a bridge to the right and river to the left. The house was spotless and filled with decades of her paraphernalia accumulated before they moved from this location to their new house. The ensuing days were spent hiking, browsing, and multiple conversations with Suzie. Subsequently our future flight plan to leave became dubious. Only with Suzie’s calm demeanour and local knowledge were we able to fly out with no worries. She let us use her cell phone, offered additional days to stay in the event of plane cancellation, stay in her house while awaiting the flight, delivered our luggage to the airport, and even join her for a home cooked meal of her scrumptious fish pie. Just had a fantastic 4 night stay at the waterfront cottage and highly recommend this place! Cozy cottage with beautiful artwork and detail everywhere. The kids loved the steep stairs up to the bedrooms on the 2nd floor. We loved the deck space - great for meals, watching the kids fish from the bridge a little further along the slough, and watching the bald eagles swooping in in the evenings. Perfectly located within walking distance of the harbor, restaurants, stores, and activities. Safe and friendly community - kids had free reign on their bikes. Suzie was a wonderful host and very easy to communicate with. We hope to be back...
