How to see NINE waterfalls along Northern California’s waterfall highway 👇👇 📍 Save this post for summer hiking inspiration! Starting point: ☀️Potem Falls This waterfall is right off of the parking area (.6 miles round trip) making it a quick stop on a waterfall crawl! ☀️Burney Falls The trail to get to the bottom is currently CLOSED but you can still see the falls from the upper viewpoint. ☀️ McCloud Falls (upper, middle, and lower) We recommend hiking the trail that connects the 3 waterfalls which is 4 miles. You can alternatively drive to each waterfall. ☀️ Faery Falls This waterfall is located about .7 miles from the parking area and can be a bit hard to find. Once you park, head UP the forest road do not take the trail near the parking lot. ☀️Hedge Creek Falls A waterfall you can walk under that is right off I5! It is an easy, short walk from the parking lot. ☀️ Whiskeytown Falls A multi-tier waterfall that is accessible by a 3 mile round trip hike! Make sure once you reach the falls, you take the stairs to the left of the falls to see the upper tiers of the waterfall. Ending point: ☀️ Crystal Creek Falls This is a paved, very short trail from the parking area. It looked like the perfect swimming hole for warmer, summer months! We stayed in Redding, California as our basecamp and we were able to see all of these in a day! For a great halfway point stop for lunch - check out @yaksonthe5 ! They have the best burgers to fuel your waterfall crawl 🙃 #waterfalls #waterfallhike #californiahiking #hikingtrails #besthikes #travelinspiration #californiatravel #northerncalifornia #summerhikes

NINE waterfalls to see near Redding, California 👇👇 Last week, @visitredding had us set out to find all the best waterfall hikes in the area. Turns out, you don’t have to go far to see SO many incredible waterfalls. Next time you are in the area, here are 9 waterfalls to check out: ☀️Potem Falls This waterfall is right off of the parking area (.6 miles round trip) making it a quick stop on a waterfall crawl! ☀️Burney Falls The trail to get to the bottom is currently CLOSED but you can still see the falls from the upper viewpoint. ☀️ Mcloud Falls (upper, middle, and lower) We recommend hiking the trail that connects the 3 waterfalls which is 4 miles. They mention this trail might close down to reconstruct for safety double make sure its open How? look at the most recent reviews or call (not sure where you would call) This place is not a bad place to visit but getting there its a pain. The road is gravel and few spots are really narrow only one car can go through. Parking is very limited you need to hope its available when you get there. If you plan to bring a trailer don't that'll definitely take all the available parking. The trail it can be dangerous just gotta be extra careful where you step and its not that far of a hike. Is it worth going there? For a new waterfall to see and get the experience yes! Would I go again? If im driving with my own car definitely not! Someone else is driving or im driving different car definitely yes. Can you fish there? Oh yeah my friend caught few fishes. There is a dam where you can catch even bigger fish. Once you cross a bridge and you look to the right you'll definitely see the dam.

This is quite the adventure up in the mountains to get to this waterfall. You get a decent amount of paved road before it turns into gravel/mountain type roads. The gravel roads are well maintained though! We have taken Vanna (our campervan) in much worse! You cross over a bridge and get views of a pretty neat dam. It seemed to pop up out of nowhere! There’s a small turnout off to the side of the road with space for maybe 5 vehicles. Two other vehicles came after we arrived here early in the morning.

The hike to Potem Falls zigzags down the side of the mountain. I was gripping my kids hands for the majority of the hike down the mountain. Some parts of pretty steep & narrow. The end resulted in a beautiful rainbow! There was a light at the end of the tunnel and well worth it! This waterfall had an everlasting waterfall! It would be a fun swimming hole...

Not sure why people give this such a high rating. It’s extremely difficult to hike. We wore water sandals and swim suits and shorts. The water is FREEZING!! Unless you want hypothermia with your swim. There is no where to pop a squat or picnic or anything else but stand on the rocks in freezing cold water and fish. It’s pretty to see but ultimately not at all worth the time and energy it took to get to. Unless you love to fish that is. NOT FOR CHILDREN!!!!!!! No way in Gods green earth would I ever take my child down those rocky dangerous paths. You couldn’t pay me. DO NOT wear sandals you’ll need tennis shoes. NOT EASY to find...
