Hello to ALL who read this honest review.
This Richardson Hospice Resale Store has some very beautiful unique items in many departments. HOWEVER⊠I have mostly (key word âmostlyâ) been pleased and happy with my shopping experience and purchases over the last several years.
Recently though, I was not too pleased and happy with my shopping experience. There were two casual cute dresses that caught my attention. THE SAME BRAND AND IN THE SAME CONDITION. One dress was priced at too high $12.00 (for a USED second hand casual dress!) and the other was more reasonable $6.00.
I have been buying mainly clothing at this specific thrift store for several years now. Their clothing is âmostlyâ reasonably priced, and the selection and the condition of their clothing is in very good, excellent, like new, and or new with tags condition.
Anyways, I was a bit taken back as to why one SAME BRAND DRESS IN THE SAME CONDITION was $12.00 (too highly priced!!) and the other SAME BRAND DRESS IN THE SAME CONDITION was ($6.00 more reasonably priced). So I calmly took them both to the customer service checkout area desk. The two women working did NOT want to acknowledge that they were not marked correctly and fairly. And that I had to pay the price on the tags. (To me, thrift stores are suppose to be more affordable and cheaper than regular stores. IF, I can find clearance (NEW!) clothing at a better price than a thrift store⊠there is a problem.)
Anyways⊠I asked for the store manger woman named Ruth. I was told she was not there. Okay. Assistant Manager woman Julie was in and was called to the customer service checkout desk. She (Julie) too would not go the extra mile and be reasonable with pricing and bring the overpriced $12.00 dress down to $6.00 like the other dress was.
Nevertheless, I chose to try on the dresses and some other clothing in the fitting rooms. Well, the DAMN dresses fit good. ;) When I came out of the fitting rooms I asked another woman who was clearing off the back on the rack clothing items and putting them away ⊠if this thrift store had a survey on their receipt. I was told ânoânicely, but what is the problem. This woman was very calm, nice, and respectful. I mentioned the clothing dress situation to her. She asked if she could have the dresses. (She was familiar with the brand and style of the dresses.) So she charged up front to the CUSTOMER SERVICE checkout desk and explained details about the dresses, and that me was marked way too high. And the price ($12.00) should MATCH the other one ($6.00).
I did end up getting the two causal dresses for a reasonable FAIR price. The issue is this: the two women working behind the customer service checkout desk DID NOT NOT desire to do right for a loyal customer. AND the assistant manager Julie also chose to NOT do right and go the extra mile and take the too high price tag off and put a reasonable fair just price tag on. It took ME being assertive and asking another woman in another different department to get the fair just right price.
Lastly, CLEAR COMMUNICATION needs needs needs to take place with the people in the back room area putting prices on all the variety of items. I have seen and read numerous (quite a bit) not so favorable reviews about the PRICES of THIS thrift store items being TOO HIGH UNREASONABLE and UNJUST. This CLEAR COMMUNICATION with the people that work in the back room area needs to take place. OR, there will continue to be unpleased people (not so favorable customer service!) come through your doors and leave non favorable reviews.
Thank You, ALL, for reading this honest review about Richardson Hospice Resale Store. Again, thank you....
Read moreUpdate 2-14-2025 I know their prices are higher than other thrift stores, but I've usually been able to still find some good deals. Now EVERYTHING is priced so high & many items have notes saying sells on ebay for _ _ _ _. SELL IT ON EBAY THEN!! I'm done with this place. Service is hit or miss. They get the stuff for free. I understand selling some of the higher end stuff on ebay. However do not expect to get ebay prices in the store. Many items were priced higher than ebay. Looking at other reviews there's a lot of potential customers saying the same thing.
Updating my last review 5-30. I stopped in for the first time in 8 months. I had 2 wonderful ladies help me out. Kris & Katherine got me packed up & help to my car. I had numerous dish sets & these ladies were super nice. Much different than my past experiences. I plan on stopping again & hope this is consistent.
At 1 point I stopped 1-2 times a week. I live very close. The prices continue to get ridiculously high & I haven't stopped for awhile. One thing I always noticed was no matter how much I smiled as I entered the women at the counter never said hello, but did say it do those entering at other times. Very annoying. Today was so such an obvious ignore. When I approached to check out I was asked if I was a loyalty member, a program they recently started. I said no this will be my last time here. They asked why & I nicely told them. One of the ladies who ignored me said-I was one off them who didn't...
Read moreThey should honestly be ashamed of themselves & should also change the name to, âSharon Richardsonâs Antique Mall & Overpriced Otherâ. If you want to browse a store with outrageous ideas of what items are worth, this is the place for you. Anyone expecting used item pricing, (as resale thrift shops were intended to be) i would suggest shopping elsewhere. The proceeds go to a good cause, so youâd think they could lower their ridiculous pricing & maybe make more consistent sales. Iâve seen a lot of the same stuff sit on shelves for weeks, months even. Still sitting there with its outrageous price tag waiting for you for gasp at it. What they should do is have a 50% off sale and start their business plan over. I think they forget the items are donated. Or maybe someone in back with a price gun and an eBay app has just lost their mind. There is no reason that a cheap Easter basket should be $5. Or a used board game for $8. The same records albums you see at every other thrift shop for the standard price of $1, were a shocking $8 here. Best part of the shopping experience was the playlist. We walked out for the last time without even browsing the other 1/2 of store. Was once a great resale shop, if I could give negative stars I would. So I suppose weâll say they get the one star for their elderly cashiers, who always seem chipper and likely do not do...
