We are so disheartened and at a loss for words with this organization. I am not sure the purpose of them hosting adoption fairs and taking up space in PetSmart with only specific adopters in mind. We were not sure if our hearts were ready to adopt again after a loss but, we knew it was right when we met a certain cat. Immediately, we filled out the application and were told it would take a couple days to at most a week. We were contacted for questions the next day and after that communication was scarce to non-existent. We tried to call many times asking for an update, seeing if we could go spend time with him and nothing. We were even in PetSmart one day and approached them about seeing Colin and they did not help facilitate this at all. We then received a text saying our application was submitted and almost 2 weeks later, today, we got an email saying we were not approved without any explanation as to why. We attempted to ask for explantion and were left on "read". Our house comes with love in the form of four paws, we love our babies and wanted nothing more than to provide him with a loving home and it seems they have a different agenda and rather him stay, at PetSmart, for an unknown amount of time. I would not recommend this organization to anyone and suggest looking elsewhere because their lack of compassion and regard for the adopters...
Read moreI started volunteering for KPA a month or so ago and it is clear through interacting with other volunteers how much they care for the cats and their well being as well as getting them into the perfect home for them.
Then, recently, I became familiar with KPA on a different level as my husband and I applied for and eventually adopted a cat rescued by them!
We were very happy with the adoption process. The original application was thorough and we were happy to have them call references and our vet (showing again how much they care about finding great homes for these cats!). Once we started doing meet and greets, Alyssa was helpful and patient and allowed us ample time to meet some of these cute kitties!
We have two dogs, so we came back separately with them to do a meet and greet. We were disappointed when two of the cats we thought would be perfect did not get along well with our dogs. (Not the cats fault I may add!) I was feeling pretty defeated when Alyssa suggested one more cat that another volunteer said might be a good fit. And he was!!
We are thrilled to welcome our little guy into our home and are glad to know that before he found us he was cared for so well by the KPA...
Read moreStarted off great. My daughter wanted to adopt a cat & the process took some time, but it seemed like they were being thorough to make sure their cats go to good homes. They said they’d get her the vet records for the cat, who has been with them for quite a while. Being a responsible owner she had immediately made an appointment to take her new cat to the vet & needed the records. She followed up again & again - and was always told (with apologies) they’d get them right away. She ended up getting all the shots - maybe again, maybe not - because they still haven’t sent them after more than a month. Either there’s something wrong they didn’t disclose (waiting on test results) or they never provided vet care. It’s very suspicious. I pray nothing is seriously wrong, but would not recommend adopting from them. UPDATE: 6 months later, they never sent vet records. The cat did have health issues, which weren’t disclosed. They also said she could only have a particular food - it turned out to be the thing making her sick, she’s allergic to the main ingredient. I’ve never dealt with a rescue...
