I’m a civil war buff so i enjoy visiting these type of places. As an American, and dare I say...patriot... I feel it’s our duty to visit, and take care of places like this. The cemetery is beautiful and well maintained. There are hundreds of Union soldiers burried here. There are NO confederates burried here. I find this terribly sad. It’s not uncommon at National cemeteries created during the civil war, and I think it says volumes about how split and hurt the country was at the time. Read moreI went to the Antietam National Cemetery which is tour stop 11. There are over 4500 Union troops buried here. There's no Confederate soldiers buried here as the southern states didn't have the money. Later the Confederate dead were buried in three different Cemeteries. The soldiers were buried by state.
