Market Basket — Local services in Shrewsbury

Beware, consider going elsewhere.

I haven't had good experiences in this particular location yet. Generally, any Market Basket I've visited I love and I've always had a pleasant experience, so I was quite shocked that the Shrewsbury location was the exception.

Please bear in mind while reading this that I totally understand that the store can not control the number of customers nor how they act. I am writing my opinion and experience solely based on the store and its employees.

The last couple of times I've gone to the new Shrewsbury location, I've had some terrible customer service. This place has been packed since day 1, and I mean PACKED. Constantly shoulder to shoulder with people, parking lot is a zoo. I've almost been hit by people either speeding or not paying attention to where they are driving. I've brought my concern to Customer Service, and the young woman at the counter shrugged me off and walked away.

The last time I went there I couldn't locate an item I was looking for. So I asked an associate "Yea it's like...over there or something." He pointed in a direction without looking. I then asked him if he could please show me where it was. "Yea...I can't do that..." and walked away. I was a bit shocked. I asked another employee if he could get me a Manager as I wanted to talk about what just happened. The young man promised he would go get one for me. Never happened. He walked away and didn't come back. I waited for 10 minutes and nobody came.

I also believe that the employees who bag groceries need a bit more training. The first time the young gentleman overloaded my bag with heavy items and it ultimately ripped and fell onto the parking lot while I was loading it into my car. The second time I went the gentleman bagging wasn't paying attention to what he was loading in. Chemicals got put into a bag that had lunch meats, and the bottle leaked and ruined the meats.

There are a few other small issues that happened that don't need to be mentioned as well.

Overall, I will think twice about going to the Shrewsbury location. I'm not writing it off completely as I know it is a Brand New store and things can improve. I just believe that they could do better as I've always seen and expected from Market Basket and other locations.

This market basket is horrible I don't know what type of people are running and working at this location but I will be traveling to oxford instead of here . First off the cashier was trying trying to suggest I was trying to steal a cake and ice cream LMAO . I had the money and I had a bank card , I used my wic first so I was paying for my fruits first the cake was in the stroller because my kid was pushing the cart i didn't want it tossed all over before My wic order was even done this cashier had the nerve to call someone over and whisper in there ear that I'm clearly trying to steal this cake. Oh yeah I'm trying to steal a cake that is right infront of his face what a wack job. On top of it this loser cashier didn't know how to take 17 dollars off my card and made my card get locked then had the nerve to tell me there isn't anything they could do the store manager is no better he let me go knowing his cashier made my card get locked out and it's there fault that happend and let me walk out not getting the cake I went there for for my 4 year old sons birthday they didn't know if i didnt have another way to get him a cake luckly I do. Horrible management horrible store manager won't spend another penny here now im going to have to travel 10 mins more out of my way to get to a whole new market basket to shop. This place accused ne of stealing so i trsveled to the other markwt and have spent 500 dollars so far there lol even the oxford workers talk bad about the people who work at shewsbury and said when they have had to work there for a day it...
