Yes If there were triple ZEROS Avera would be the Hero’s. I honestly don’t think they deserve that. I would never recommend Any Avera due to what our family has gone though there . Luckily my mom is still alive. Problem is I also think some Medicare fraud has been going on their also. My mom has tried to deny going there but they are the only ones that she can go to now. She has tried other places but now after trying to go elsewhere no nephrologist will accept her. For weeks now, she’s been unable to pick the health care that’s best for her. She found out Avera is saying she’s noncompliant with her medications and not cooperating doctors and their medical advice. I can’t imagine why, after receiving two Hernias and having two Major infections why she’s tried to leave...lol. She’s just upset that they won’t give her a referral outside of any Avera. So after all these problems ,other nephrologist but Avera will take her . So to save her own life she’s been forced back to Avera Now 3 times and has to Dialyze with them. She’s requested to everyone she speaks with about her concerns that something fishy is going on there and they won’t let her leave. They even discharged her saying she could have Dialyze at DaVita, recently then come to find out DaVita won’t take her . She had nowhere to go, and went a week before Being Dialyzed again. Which wasn’t good. They blamed her for this. She found out from another hospital that by them releasing her with no place to Dialyze was like them signing her death warrant. And was against the law . She never knew she had no place to Dialyze she was just following her discharge papers. At the time, she was was happy to finally start somewhere else. They had since set her up but of course it’s an Avera Dialysis Center that her husband found with one phone call. so as of to today still no other nephrologist in South Dakota or Nebraska nor Wyoming will take her. and she is stuck with Avera hoping to be given at least one chance with another hospital or DaVita. She’s never seen anyone but Avera. Either they are to lazy to make a Good referral. Or they are scared someone will actually find out something they’ve done to her and they won’t release her because then it my stir up some sort of trouble. I’m not sure, but all I know I I just want the best health care for my mother as does she and she knows Gregory Avera Hospital, in Gregory, SD and Avera McKennan in Sioux Fall, SD. Have been Horrible for their care and cleanliness. Certainly there has been no communication between doctors and nurses or surgeons. And twice now it has almost cost my mom her life. So please take this into consideration when...
Read moreI don’t know what better way to rate Avera in its entirety, but here I am. The billing system is an absolute dumpster fire, which is the reason for this rating. We’re getting bills from Access Health (which is somehow still Avera), Avera Specialty Clinics, Avera Hospital, basically anything Avera, because of our child’s 3 month NICU stay. They can’t all be on one system, because that would be too simple. They don’t wait for the charges to run through insurance before billing you. Then somehow charges from MONTHS prior show up on later statements that should have been on previous statements. Pretty sure that’s how they get people to pay more. Paid our out-of-pocket maximum for 2021, and they’re still saying we owe more. Um… don’t think so… Another way they try to get more money out of you. There’s also no way to look online at any of the charges or what you owe; you either have to call or wait for paper statements in the mail (of which, are so unorganized). And when you talk to whomever in the billing department, she sounds like she’s dead inside (rightfully so, because she’s probably getting screamed at all day for a system in place that she didn’t design). They even had a huge online “upgrade” and it’s still this way. Get your $h1t together. From what little I’ve dealt with Sanford, their billing is more organized. You might be able to save a penny or two with them.
Other than that, stellar NICU nurses. But I wouldn’t want to deal with Avera ever again based on what I’ve...
Read moreMy problem is with the employees in the billing and insurance department, I ended up paying for a bill I don't owe and can prove it, I have group insurance through my husband's job and Medicare but Avera refused to correct it and resubmit it and I could not get a supervisor to talk to me this went on for about a year and a half then Avera turned me over to a collection agency and I had to pay for it, Now again I received another bill and I called and again I got the run a round, it has been a week since I had asked for an itemized statement and I doubt I will get it the last one I got through the collection agency since Avera refused to send it to me, I have also asked for hardship paperwork and I don't have those either, so they will just keep putting everything off until it is too late to file with both of my insurance companies, not this time I am not paying this until I get what I want, These people are rude and refuse to help you and I am fed up with there attitudes, with this letter I hope someone from corporate sees it and contacts me because Avera owes me money for what they have done to me over the last couple of years, and finally this department needs a person to handle disputes,
Thank you! p.s. to whomever reads this and it is in the wrong hands Please!! get it to the right person, and not the billing and...
