Held's Meat and Cheese Market — Local services in Slinger

I've been somewhat disappointed the last couple times that I've made the journey to Held's. I can't put my finger on exactly what has changed but something certainly has. I have been stopping at Held's 3 or 4 times a year since the 1970's and had always looked forward to exceptional products.

The last few times that I stopped and purchased Summer Sausage, it has been dry and the flavor hasn't been what it was. I made the one hour trip to Held's last Friday and again purchased a stick of Summer Sausage, requesting "garlic summer sausage". Today I finally got into it, only to find it didn't have garlic, as I had been assured by the clerk.

It didn't seem as dry as it had been the last couple of times but a disappointment to say the least, without the garlic. I can only hope that the other products, including slab jerky, that I purchased are as good as they have been...

Our family have been satisfied customers of Held’s since the 1920’s or 30’s when my grandfather, Ben Frantz, began selling sawdust to Mr Held for his shop. It has been such a pleasure to stop for our favorite items - brats, sausage, cheese - on our trip to Three Lakes each time we visit our place on the chain. It’s a must!!! My parents, aunt & uncle visited many times a year, as well, on their way north. Bacon is delicious, brats unequaled plus all their cheeses & other great items are such favorites. Staff is wonderful. Now Ben’s grandson, Steve, owns Frantz & Company, having been passed down from his dad, Ken. It truly continues to be a tradition in our family. I've been getting Held's slab jerky since working in Oshkosh in 1999 and 2000. Now that they ship via Fed Ex, I can get the world's best jerky thru the use of modern technology. My daughter bought me a pound of it last year for Christmas and said that she ordered it online. The jerky was good but the real Christmas present was finding out that you can order online.

I just received 3 pounds thru Fed Ex and have been sharing some of the chopped jerky with my coworkers. It's like getting them hooked on crack when they take a bite of it and they want to know where I got it. You're more than likely going to get more orders because of it.

I dare anyone on the globe to put something forward that tastes as great as Held's jerky...
