White's Produce — Local services in Slocomb

Update from my earlier post.. We were headed to the beach and saw the produce sign and heard of how delicious Slocomb tomatoes are. So we stopped by on a Saturday afternoon. We got the big box ($25) that had some green to them due to the fact that we were headed to the beach and would not be able to make salsa until we got home 4 days later. The folks there were helpful and gave us great suggestions on what to buy based on that. We also bought two large and very heavy watermelons ($6/ea). They also sell other produce items like squash. You don't have to buy big bulk tomatoes. They sell smaller containers of tomatoes. And it was great to deal with local farmers that were super sweet. Will return next year for more. I’ve read about Slocomb tomatoes supposedly being best and, since I love tomatoes, drove from Central FL to buy some. Ok, so are these tomatoes best? Yes. On top of that, the owner was fabulously friendly (it was my first time in Alabama - famous AL kindness is real). I also got a bucket of tomatoes at another shop on the same street closer to Dothan and at White’s they were cheaper ($5 a bucket vs. $6 at another stand for the same). Fresh, tasty and I’m writing this as I’m back in FL having Slocomb tomatoes for dinner wishing I bought more. By far they have the absolute best tomatoes in the area. I have been to dozens and dozens of produce stands and Whites has the best tasting, best-looking , best prices. Massive sized corn, peaches, and some of the biggest watermelons I've ever seen... I'm not sure what the guys name was that seemed to run the joint, but he was super friendly, super knowledgeable, and a couple ladies in there were also very friendly, helpful, . They truly go out of their way to please their customers and make sure you get the best product. Make the drive to Slocomb on 52 its so worth it. You're robbing yourself of a great experience...
