Not sure what has happened to this family farm. Years ago this place sold excellent organic compost... A couple of weeks ago I bought a truck load of compost that is loaded with plastic, and what appears to be motor oil and grease. I am finding random garbage in the soil from broken down zip ties to plastic bags, pieces of electrical wires and random plastic debris. It appears they are now taking in demolished buildings with +30' piles of demolition debris located fairly close to their compost area. There is a giant machine breaking down and sifting the demolition garbage. I assume the debris I am finding in my soil are from the piles of nearby garbage. I try to grow as much of my food as possible... Unfortunately I had spread this truck load of soil out into my garden beds before noticing the contamination! I wish I had paid more attention! I had read that it was finished compost, certified organic, 5th generation family farm. I felt confident I was going to receive a good product but when it came I was very disappointed. I have spent hours picking out large and small chunks of plastic, plastic bags, wires, conduit, glass, painted wood debris.
