I played 3 courses on a short trip with my wife. She picked Hilton Head for an anniversary trip and rode along with me on some quick late night golf rounds before we went to dinner. I played Robert Trent and a port royal course and this was my favorite course/layout and my wife’s favorite views. Just like the other courses the conditions weren’t what I was expecting coming down on this trip. I heard good things about Hilton head golf and expected so much better. I regularly play a course that is in poor condition but even my course has better greens than the courses I played which is unbelievable. I can get over the cart paths, fairways, rough and just move the ball around but I’m not sure why the greens and fringe areas on these courses aren’t in better shape or faster. If this course was in better condition it would be a really nice track. It was a nice round though I had the course to myself teeing off at 5pm on a Sunday. I had a tee time at the Fazio course after playing Robert Trent night before but switched to this last minute which I am glad I did. Again I enjoyed the layout and scenery, just needs some work but that can likely be said for every course in the area except maybe sea pines which I didn’t get a chance to play.

We come to HHI every summer and usually play courses on the island. We decided to try out Crescent Pointe for something new. After having issues being able to book online, we decided to call the course and got a tee time for later that day. The course had recently been aerated, and it would have been nice to know this before getting to the course. They have a new tracking system on the carts and it was miserable playing with that. If you took it anywhere into the fairway, a blaring alarm for Geofence issues would go off. Having to keep driving back to the cart path, then walk back out to hit our ball was quite distracting and seriously messed with our golf game. (See pics and video attached.) We also got to deal with people just driving onto the course to play. Hitting up at us or driving down the fairway when we were trying to play. Guess people who are staying in the area can come out and play whenever they want. For the amount of money we paid for an aerated course with a horrible alarm going off almost every hole, it is not worth coming out. And it seems that we were charged even more than usual to play our round, about $10 more than tee times the very next day. Disappointing all around.

Crescent Pointe Golf Club Review I recently played at Crescent Pointe Golf Club for the first time, and I was thoroughly impressed. The clubhouse is clean and organized, creating a welcoming atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The staff is not only friendly but also knowledgeable, adding to the overall positive experience. The golf course itself is beautifully designed, featuring a challenging layout with water hazards, sand traps, and various obstacles that come into play throughout the round. I found myself using every club in my bag, which shows just how engaging this course is. For those with a mid to high handicap, this course will present a tough challenge. However, returning to play here allows you to improve your skills, making it a rewarding experience. Each hole tests your approach shots, chipping, and putting, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of your game. Overall, I can’t wait to come back to Crescent Pointe Golf Club. It’s a fantastic course that promises a great day on the links!!

Down from Ohio with family with our 17-22 handicaps. Looked at numerous courses and costs and found this course on multiple sites for under $70. Read reviews from Mar to Mid July and made note of progressive improvement in reviews further into the year. Also learned new ownership only took over operations in March and considered comments about “it is evident they are putting money into the course”. Followed the lead of review from “Local guy playing with 7 buds” and agreed to reward owners investment by giving Crescent a chance. Loved the Palmer Design/layout, and honestly, our entire group thought course was in “better than good” condition. A couple dry tee boxes, two temp greens and some traps getting lots of new sand (piled but not spread), but nothing terrible. Great fairways and greens especially for late July in Hilton Head. I’ve played Golden Bear at Indigo, Oyster Reef, and Old South in spring and summer conditions in last three years and I would put today’s conditions up against any of them even at $110 like those courses charge, let alone at the $65 we paid. Sure, if you want PGA conditions, pay the couple hundred bucks per round and stick with the Sea Pines and Palmetto resort courses, but if you want to play a fun track that is better than HHI courses’ average July conditions, don’t pass on Crescent Pointe. With 6 tee positions, this course will give your average weekend golfer to single digit HC’r a great round.

PS. I don’t usually do Google Reviews, but I really wanted to give people that are looking for a course when they don’t know the area, an outsiders honest...

Wow - we’re to start? The GOOD: I just played one of the nicest golf layouts in the Hilton Head area! For February the greens and Fairways are in 5 star shape. (And the traps are ok) Will have to come back in the spring and “see” how the condition develops. But for now it’s an incredible value. The BAD: the cart paths are a mess, especially on the beautiful back nine. The practice green and driving range have 5 star potential but are awful… The UGLY (reality) Fix these and double your rates! And an EZ fix is a simple refresh to the restrooms - come on… I gave Crescent Pointe a 5 star because of the golf conditions & wonderful layout BUT: If money is a problem - hire some retired members to adopt a hole & fix the cart paths & rest rooms on their hole - name the hole after them and guarantee their rate to be fixed at todays prices (plus CPI) over the next 5 years while you double the rates for everyone else. You would have to pay for materials and planning of the projects. But mixing and pouring concrete one pad at a time - NBD ! Or just go get the money and fix this 5 star GEM! You could even have 18 more members adopt the T boxes for a flower competition. Good luck - hope you figure it out! Everyone is super nice...
