Peacock Meadows RV Park This is long, but please read to understand the unprofessional management . Peacock Meadows is a great park. It’s clean and great little club house plus the location is great. The host Ron & Debra, not so much. We stayed there one month 2 years ago. We made several friends and wanted to come back this year for a month.
John started emailing in January 2024 that we wanted a month in August. He was told no, so we assumed it was full. But had kept trying by email, phone calls & leaving multiple voice messages and texting to which we got NO response at all. From January through May approximately.
We left in our motorhome for the summer in June. In July I called to try one more time. Debra answered……. I asked immediately if she had received our emails, voice mails & text. I asked her three different times through out the conversation and she never answered once, she would just change the subject. We booked a week for the first week in august, we didn’t book more at that time as wasn’t sure why the no response to all our request.
We get to the park which had multiple monthly spots open and park had lots of open spots. You get told your spot when you arrive. She gave us undesirable spot and after driving through and seeing multiple empty spots that were nicer with trees, we went back to the office to request a different spot. She said “NO “, but thanks for asking. We were shocked at the treatment from her. Not welcome back or anything. We asked about the monthly spots that were open and were told people were coming in a few days. Well those people NEVER came and while the other nicer spots set empty as well, she never reached out to us. After a week we opted to stay another week because of all our friends there. (Which many have left in the last few years due to the behavior of Ron and the way they were treated.)
I went up to talk to Deb to book another week & see why we were being treated like criminals but someone was in the office with her and didn’t want to ask why they were being so mean to us in front of others. ( hindsight I wish I would have) So we booked another week.
Two days before we left I went up again to talk to Debra. I walked in and asked if I could talk to her. I asked if we had done something two years ago when we were here? She said yes you did…… you sped once and drove the wrong way once.. (which means we maybe drive 7 miles an hour instead of 5 as posted everywhere.) I know we didn’t drive the wrong way I said and if we did go 7 miles per hour Ron is almost verbally abusive when approaches you .
I said so that’s why you told us no and never responded. She said “yes that’s why”. When I asked her why she didn’t just talk to us in January she stated it wasn’t a conversation to have over the phone. I said but it was ok for you to not give us a month or response at all. I said we are adults and what you did is morally and ethically wrong and very poor management. Plus we are talking driving once 2 miles over the posting of 5 miles per hour. I then asked about the monthly spaces that were still open and said so you ignored us for months and then lied to our faces once we arrived.
Also as management if there was problem from 2 years ago they should have addressed it then before we left not knowing anything was wrong. In fact Ron said if you want this spot you better book it now for next year, nothing about any problems with us. She should have brought it up at the very least when we arrived or at some point (since she said it wasn’t for the phone) but I as the customer had to GO to her and ask.
So by her not giving us a month as requested, and lying about it she cost us more money which is committing fraud, as she would make more money from us for the two weeks than for the month. Monthly rates are 850. And for two weeks it cost 1045.86. So she was making money off of us by her actions.
I have been so in shock that anyone would choose to treat people like this and lie...
Read moreThis is a very new RV park. It is open all year. The sites have plenty of room to each side. Slideouts won't be a problem. Each site has hookups, a picnic table and fire ring. The sites are gravel with railroad ties bordering at least one side as I recall. There are no trees tall enough to provide shade.
We were in site #6, located towards the front. Some noise from the highway could be heard, but not enough to be an issue. The water treatment plant isn't far away. I never got a sniff of it. Not an issue should you happen to spot it from the map and think it might stink.
The sites are diagonal. That meant my neighbor wasn't looking across into my windows. The diagonal layout made for an easy parking job.
There are two restrooms at the back of the community building. Both restrooms have very nice tile showers. These are the best restrooms and showers I've seen yet in a commercial campground. Laundry (coin-op) facilities are outside the bathrooms, still in the community building.
We were there in the off season spending daylight hours outside town fishing, so we didn't experience any amenities or programs that the campground may have offered. The community building looked like it would provide a nice area for groups.
Power and water were consistent. My power monitor didn't complain. I used an over-pressure device so I never bothered to look and see what the water pressure actually was. My faucets didn't have a problem.
WiFi was OK. Getting to most websites there were no issues. However, when I had to use VPN the service was flaky and difficult to use. Verizon had a full 4G signal.
The campground has direct access to the Rio Grande River. The shore is a bit cluttered with bushes, so fishing may not be very good. We tried to fish for a while but the river was flowing too fast.
My only complaint is that they stuck me next to another occupied site when well over half the campground was empty. I notified them that I would be coming in well after dark. My neighbor was quiet, I never heard a peep out of them. But I felt bad that they had to hear me backing in and setting up so late.
If I'm in the area and looking for a campsite with hookups I'll be back to...
Read moreIf we could give them zero stars, we would. Having traveled the country and stayed at over 100 rv parks, this management is by far the rudest, most incompetent we have ever encountered. Read on for the details.
At check in, there was obviously an argument going on between the husband and wife team. She gave the perfunctory speach. But her anger visibly showed. He sat and stewed, never saying hello, welcome or a single word.
When we asked about shower hours, she launched into a diatribe about the out of state Texas owner, who was "on her ass", (her words) about expenses and the liquor license he just bought. What this had to do with showers, we never learned.
Come Friday night, we learned why the owner bought the liquor license. Loud music erupted from the common area, within 50 feet of our rig.
Next morning we asked to move spots. The same charming lady gritted her teeth and said, "I told you at check in there are no refunds of any kind." "the music is only on fridays, you will be fine."
It gets worse. We had arranged for Amazon to ship a couple of items (spare rv parts) to the campground.
When we checked with the office a few days later, the same lady said she sent them back, thinking we had moved.
All this time, the husband was seen driving around in his golf cart, never saying a word to anyone.
Do your self a favor. Avoid these people.
