I'd give this court NO stars if I could. The clerks are rude and entitled. They forget that they are public SERVANTS! The public defender Kyle Dart, is lazy and dishonest. I was originally appointed him as my public defender. After calling him out for missing a meeting which he set the date and time for, he didn't reply to me about my case for 11 MONTHS!! In that time frame, he "represented" me in court about six times. I have recorded proof of him telling an OBJECTIVE LIE to the judge, about six months after. He also lied at the 11 month mark to the judge, which resulted in a warrant being issued for my arrest for failure to appear. I made the city attorney, Vaughn Pickell, as well as the City Manager, Seth Perrins, aware of this misconduct and provided the proof of what I have stated above. They chose to ignore and cover for his misconduct as I also have proof of from obtaining FOIA requests of their communications. As of writing this review, Kyle Dart is still employed as the public defender. If you are assigned him as your council, I would recommend petitioning the court for conflict counsel, as he has proven himself to be dishonest and NOT an advocate. He is lazy and dishonest and should NOT be providing indigent defense at the expense of the taxpayers. He violated several of the standards of professional conduct and has been referred to the Utah State Bar. The bar can take up to a year to investigate complaints, so I would suggest that if you have been assigned LYIN' KYLE DART, as your council in the past or present, that you ask the court for different council. This is a pattern that we are seeing all over the country with tax payer funded attorneys and police officer. They feel like they are above the law and know that the rest of the good ol' boy network/blue line gang, will cover for their misdeeds and will not hold them accountable. Spanish Fork City and District Court are no exception to this, rather the rule!!! DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY FOR YOUR CORRUPT PUBLIC...
Read moreOur experience with Judge F. Richards Smith III was deeply frustrating and, ultimately, felt unjust. Although accusations against us were found to be a dependency issue, Judge Smith formed a negative opinion of us early on, reacting strongly to terms we used to describe our child’s challenging behaviors. It appeared he disregarded crucial evidence from law enforcement, DCFS reviews, and other findings that clearly documented our child’s actions and needs.
Judge Smith spoke of providing family support and assistance. However, in practice, his court enabled our child’s behavior rather than holding them accountable. It seemed as if they wouldn’t address our child’s negative actions, handling them with “white gloves” to avoid potential emotional trauma. This approach led to pandering rather than accountability, which played into our child’s hands, emboldening their negative behaviors instead of addressing them.
Throughout the process, Judge Smith’s requests for DCFS action were often ignored, delaying the help our child urgently needed. As parents representing ourselves, we felt dismissed and powerless. Judge Smith, our child’s attorney, and the DCFS counsel engaged in side discussions from which we were excluded solely because we didn’t have legal representation. Meanwhile, our child’s statements were accepted without question.
Now, nearly a year later, our child is aging out of the program without receiving the critical support they need. For a system built to support families and help children, this experience has shown us firsthand how ineffective it is and how it has failed both our family...
Read moreThis court needs to be done away with. The staff and Judge J. Eldridge are not for the people nor justice. I'd highly advise on any case here even a speeding ticket to get an attorney and petition to have another court see over the case. They do not reply to emails in timely fashion nor do they give accurate information as almost all the other reviews state. This is insane that nothing has been done. Just getting a plea in here whether its a guilty or non guilty...
