I have Sprint Drive, a partnership with AAA. It states in the T&C you get 15 miles of towing for free, and it’s $3.35 for each additional mile. When I made the service call to Sprint Drive, I gave the address where the car was to be towed from and to. When the driver (Edward) showed up he told my son it would cost $56.00 because it showed up as a “basic” AAA membership and it only comes with 5 miles of towing. I called the owner (Nick) and he said the same thing. I even texted a photo of the T&C where it said it was 15 miles of towing. Nick told me; ‘If the dispatcher tells you it’s 15 miles and we see it’s going to take us 25 minutes to get there, and we know we can get there in 15 minutes by going a different route, we are going to go a different route and if it’s further we will charge you the difference. The name of the game is speed, and we are going to go the quickest way. We will calculate the miles from the start to finish and charge you the difference.’ For one, that’s not right. You have to adhere to what the dispatcher tells the customer. And two, if that’s the case, why did the driver take the money prior to completing the trip and calculating the mileage? It seems this company likes to rip people off. I’ve been working with Sprint, AAA and the BBB to have this resolved and my money refunded. Tonight with a crazy turn of events our driver was not able to drive our truck back to the terminal. Instead of waiting for us to get there before towing it (which was only 30 min). They went ahead and impounded our truck. I would like to mention that it wasn’t even hooked up the the tow truck when we pulled up but they “HAD” to take it by that point. So we had to go get the vehicle out of impound and pay CASH ONLY to get it out. Our wrecker was probably one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. We sat and waited for him for over 30 min because he said he would be back shortly. (In the meantime we wanted to make sure we got him that exact $272 because he said if we didn’t have exactly that amount in cash he would not be allowing us to get the vehicle tonight). So while on our way back he I guess got there before us and threatened again that if we didn’t get back ASAP he was not going to let us get it. Talk about hittin people when they are already down… We of course will never be doing business with Ragsdale again.
