I always try to shop locally and support Bellefonte businesses. I have shopped in this store before and never had a problem but recently made a purchase and wanted to return it. First, I was told that I had to wait 10 days until my check cleared. They kept my item and wrote a note on my receipt and told me to come back. I thought this was very strange but I fully expected to get my money back when I returned. I came back after the wait time and was then told that I would not be getting my money back because the item I returned(with the original store tag still attached) was dirty and stretched(the waist band). I told her that we didn't do anything to the item and that she couldn't prove that the item wasn't that way when I purchased the item. She told me that she would either give me a store credit or she could try to "sell" it for me for half price. I didn't need a store credit because I didn't need any more sporting items and I think it would have been unfair to me to have them "sell" it for me for half price. For all I know, the item got dirty while they held it there at the store or was that way when I purchased it. The dirt, if there really is any, obviously is not that noticeable and the waist band is only slightly stretched. That's what happens when you try things on, they are supposed to stretch. I have never been treated like that in any store I have ever shopped in and will not ever shop there again. I also feel that the person I talked to was very rude and she started out that way before I even had a chance to say anything when I walked in the store. I will be sure to tell all of the sporting families I know about the experience that I had there. BAD BUSINESS practice and POOR...
Read moreI took a mower in that needed a belt and a weedeater that would not run. They were both there for over a month, and not only were they not fixed but they had not been touched or looked at at all. Excuses were the belt was back ordered and they just didn't have a chance to look at the weedeater. If you ask any questions or for anyone specifically you will be treated like your unintelligent or get the "their at lunch" "their off today" normal excuses. Went to tractor supply and found the belt I needed within five minutes. I would not recommend wasting your time at ports sporting goods unless you want to buy a stihl, (which I wouldn't bother doing either). Stoicheffs in state college has better equipment, better prices, better service, and most importantly will treat you with respect!! And as a bonus your equipment will not sit out in the rain/weather for a month waiting to get fixed. Just absolutely unbelievable...

For years I have maintained my own coal stove. This year, I thought it would be a good idea to have someone look it over. I called Ports Sports Emporium and Tim showed up the next day. Tim taught me things about the stove I never new. Within an hour, he had my stove apart, cleaned, new gaskets, oiled and back together. I highly recommend you call Ports to check...
