Early this year my son and I went to go take a tour of the school. He liked what he saw and decided he wanted to go to school here once he graduated. We explained to, Jim, my son was going to apply for financial aid and military benefits from his late father. My son did not want to start school until the fall of 2026, in order to make sure he was going to get the financial aid he needed to pay for the course. He was going for the automotive technology course with a specialization in ford fact. My son and I were debating his start day, so, Jim, tells us not to worry. We can pay the registration fee for him to save his spot for August of 2025 and if need be, we would be able to push back the date as needed. We applied for military benefits after getting all the documents the military required in July, but they informed us it would take 4 to 6 months before they gave us an answer. This of course would go pass the August 2025 start date we had originally reserved. We had a financial aid meeting and informed the lady of the situation. She said just to talk to, Jim, and there would be no problems pushing the start date back. No big deal right, Jim, said we could push the date back as far as needed. My son informs Jim of the situation and Jim says, "Oh no, we can only push back your start date one month." This is not what he had told us, but my son decided to accept it, since he had gotten one scholarship and some money from FASFA. He figured, I'll start, and as I'm in school, I should have a response from the military, or get a loan for the rest. They schedule another financial aid meeting with my son this past Friday, and as my son is getting ready to go, Jim texts him. He tells him to go to the financial aid meeting but there's a slight situation. When he moved my son to start in September he was in a "Canceled" status and he will have to reenroll and pay the $50 registration fee all over again. What??? Who canceled my son, because neither him nor I did. I call to try to talk to Jim, but like always, it goes to voicemail. It's been 4 days and I'm still waiting to hear from Jim. I called UTI that Friday and asked what was going on? I tell them everything, they agree it's not right, but tell me I have to speak with the financial aid office. They transfer me, and of course, no one answers and their voicemail is full, so you cannot leave a message. I call back to UTI, tell them no one is answering in financial aid, and explain it is urgent for me to speak with someone, because my son is supposed to have a meeting that day. The lady takes a message and is going to have them call me back, but they never do. Please do not waste your time on this school unless you have the payment upfront. They kept my son's $50 enrollment fee, while he was doing everything they told him to do, to come up with the $52,000.00 this 14 month course cost. He always kept them informed and they kept telling him everything was fine. They wasted my son's time, never returned our calls or messages, and destroyed my son's dream of attending this...
Read moreI started school at UTI march of 2011 I finish march of 2012. From my one year of being there I have learn a lot. Not just hands on but I have learn a lot about me and what it means to have goals and reaching them. I know that I wouldn’t be where i am at today if it wasn’t for me going to UTI. Let me tell you a little bit about my time there. I came in my first day and was focused and ready to be top of the class. The first week was not so great you have kids being late and not taking it so serious. I found out that a lot of kids come there because their parents want them to do something after high school and they come to UTI. But don’t worry by the second week they have either quit or miss too many days. After that it was great I was learning about what I love doing. The instructors were great all of them knew what they were talking about. What really got me is that you instructors get to know you as a person not just a student. When I was about 9 weeks away from graduation I was face with several hard decisions. I was not from around the Houston area but I was getting job offer left and right. The reason that was is because I came to school every day I was on time and I applied myself and learn as much as I could learn. I went back to one of my instructors that I had for a few classes and talk to him about the different jobs that I had on the table. He told me that I need to come up with a one year goal and a 2 year goal and a 5 year goal. Then sit down and compare Witch Company would help me reach those goals. So I did and I pick a company went and did all the paper work I had it to where I would graduate on a Friday and start on the next Monday. At this time I still have a few classes left.my second to last class was Transport Refrigerant. I started this class and fell in love with the work and everything about it. To me it was everything I like all together Diesel, Electric, and AC. Me and the instructor talk and what I like is he knew all the ins and outs of the Transport Refrigerant industry. Well at this point I was torn between the job I committed to and what I like doing. So I finish out school and started the job that I committed to. I work there for about a month and realize it wasn’t for me and put in my two week notice and move back home where I got a job with a local trucking company doing the service on their big rigs and all the AC work. Well an opportunity came open to do Transport Refrigerant with the same company so I took it. They said the reason they gave it to me is because of my schooling at UTI. Well this march they are sending me to get Factory certified on the types of units we have at my company. Little less than a year and i am going to get factory certified. None of this would have been possible if I wouldn’t have gone to UTI and applied myself and show...
Read moreI want to start this review off by saying I would have given it zero stars if I could. This review might be a little lengthy so bear with me because I want to give a clear picture of what I experienced at UTI. Today I disenrolled from UTI Houston campus after only being a student for two days. The enrollment process is super redundant. I submitted all of my documents on time and several of my documents were rejected for some odd reason when I showed up to orientation I had to stay for five hours in order to get all my paperwork turned in that I already submitted online. These guys want you to go over your finances on Zoom with 30 other people. They told us that they will get to us on an individual base after 30 Minutes, then after those 30 minutes past, they said it would be another 30 minutes. There’s no way I’m waiting on zoom that long so I logged out. I was also told by the veteran representative that I was able to pick my Schedule either early morning, midday or afternoon. I told him that I needed the early morning class because I have a severely autistic son that I have to take care in the afternoons plus I have migraines from injuries From the Iraqi war. The school messed up my schedule three different times and after I complained severely, they finally gave me the morning class. I have been in maintenance for the last 20 years. I was a Diesel tech in the army for 10 years and A Harley Davison technician for an additional 10 years. I finally make it to my first day of class And the blackboard system that they use is not working properly half the time it kicks you off while You’re completing assignments and you have to log back Continuously. And the times that it doesn’t kick you off the course material doesn’t load about 50% of the Time. So coursework that should take three hours ends up taking you six or seven, Which is totally unacceptable. Then when I went to student services to get this Issue solved, they try to put it on me. Did you ask your instructor That’s your first line of contact. I have a couple certifications in IT and I know that my computer settings Were correct. The problem with the system, as they have way too many users on the blackboard system, and it cannot support That many users at One time. I was enrolled in the Diesel automotive course which cost about $60,000 And should not have to put up with this type of nonsense. I’ve truly wanted to go to UTI ever since I was a teenager, but at this point, I truly cannot recommend it to To anyone. These guys pretty much tell you whatever you wanna hear to get you on the door and after they get Then it’s pretty much figured a figure it out or deal...
