Update of 7.5.18 For some years this has been my store of choice and I have given it great reviews despite some drawbacks I noted. That chapter has ended now and I will NOT be returning. Here's why:
Allow this one clarification; The Kroger Fuel Center next door is still, BY FAR, the ABSOLUTE best place to get gas --- unbeatable prices even if you don't shop Kroger.
An area inside the store's front entrance is the flower/plant section and ALWAYS has some VERY unique displays of items that make PERFECT gifts. After telling them nicely on 3-4 visits, STILL no item pricing or price signage is EVER present -- puzzled -- but whatever.
Deli: Has some great to-go chicken pieces & meals among many other tasty offerings. The problem is the department is HORRIBLY understaffed. While 3-5 people may be present, only one -- very occasionally 2 -- will be serving customers while the others keep busy doing chores like cleaning & cooking. Their usually-ignored take-a-number system results in LONG WAITS for nothing when customers are served out of order. This ALL is not about just ONE visit, but many (more than the last 4). On one of those visits, I was ignored in favor of a new arrival at the counter and I just left; not the first time it happened, just cumulative! Down the aisle I went -- angry -- but this time I was followed by a clerk who caught up and apologized repeatedly, got my name, returned to the Deli & got me some complimentary pieces of fried chicken; then listened patiently to my gripe. I learned that the gal, DIANE, actually worked for BOAR'S HEAD -- a Kroger supplier -- and was there checking on displays of her company's products. She was wonderfully polite and engaging, brightening my day!
This one's the 'kicker' -- AMIGOS! Those little electric shopping carts so important to seniors. I didn't report it, but last Christmas season they were down to one, TOTAL. CHRISTMAS!!! Then, maybe by Feb., they had about 4, often all of them sitting discharged or broken! Several trips, I left the store intending to NEVER return; but did. Once, the service desk blamed careless CUSTOMERS who failed to plug them back in after use (No sign, etc.) not inattentive employees. My last 2 visits, there were only 2 working and I scored one. Last -- and final -- trip there was only 1 (said the service desk), but it was nowhere in sight (maybe phantom?). The AMIGO's were not the only reason, just the final one. Other customers I asked (and me) complained about long wait times, only 2 manned registers at super BUSY times, perennial out-of-stocks, entire store product resets lasting for many days instead of one section at a time overnights, many unmarked products with missing shelf tags and more!
This location has many charming characteristics, but to me is "charming" no more. Two other nearby MAJOR retailers beckon; successfully. This is only MY experience, others may stay loyal. I will add that I have some years in retail food store sales & management and see things maybe...
Read moreI NEVER write reviews, but I am thoroughly disappointed in Kroger pickup at this location! I chose the first available pickup time of 1-2. As a single mother of 2 kids, timing is EVERYTHING!! I had to take my daughter to urgent care, which is in the Kroger parking lot, so I planned accordingly. While we were in urgent care, Kroger called and said they are behind, would I mind if I picked up at 3:30. I explained the situation and would really like to pick up at 2 if possible so I didn't have to drive to Holly and back. They told me they had about 30 min left before it was finished, which was perfect... I was still waiting at urgent care. (This was 1:18) when we finished at urgent care we headed to Kroger. We got there at 1:40, when I went to check in, they had changed my pickup time to 2-3 so I couldn't check in. I was able to check in at 1:50. At 2:00 a worker came out and said my order would be done in 30-40 minutes. Now, I totally understand being understaffed. But 1.don't put a pick up time that you can't fulfill, and 2.be honest the first time with how long it will actually take! I took the kids to McDonalds to distract them came back and waited. I saw 3 other people get their groceries who were not waiting more than 5 minutes. My groceries finally came out at 2:50, an hour and ten minutes after I got there! Under no circumstances should anyone have to wait that long for grocery pickup! I would've had a better chance if I took my sick kids into the store and got my own groceries! The cherry on top.... I got home to a broken egg in the carton! I appogize for the long review, but I wanted to caution anyone who is on...
Read moreI appreciate that they are building the organic groceries. I would like very much to see much more on the shelves and in the cases!!! The organic meats, fish, and poultry need to be built up more or just plain introduced!!! This is a major grocery with subsidiaries and therefore has the capacity to do so. R & D and Marketing need to redouble their efforts and build up the stock in the stores. Thank you very much. Update: There's been an increase in the produce and other food selections. In addition, there are additional non-food items that Kroger is selling. However, the produce section still has numerous selections from out-of-country. While I so appreciate the wide range of selections, there need to be many, many more foods from the United States! We need to increase and redouble support of the farmers of this country first before branching out to the other countries, and at that, neighbouring countries next. The regulations are in place. All that needs to be done is to provide the incentives. Also, the original plan for organics was to create supply-and-demand thereby driving the prices down. That should have been implemented many years ago. Let's make this happen! Contact your legislators and let them know that you support this action! Remind them why they are in office. Contact Kroger Headquarters also to remind them as...
