I did a review 2 years ago giving them 5 stars and I just deleted it because of our experience today.
For the last 5-6 years, we have been coming to Kerns to buy our annual flats of bedding geraniums. I called several times this week to check if they had gotten them in, as I know they get them around this time every year. The second time I called, a woman answered and said they didn't have them yet. I asked what the price was, curious if they were the same as previous years ($24.00 a flat), she answered that they were indeed $24.00 a flat or $2 for a pack of 2.
I called this morning, and they did have them in, so we headed down to pick up 3 flats. When we got to the register, there was a back and forth confirming the price between the cashier and eventually a manager. This is always an issue every year because geranium flats are always more than normal flats. We already knew this, but this literally happens every year we buy them. There is definitely a communication issue among workers regarding these particular flats. After a manager showed up, they proceeded to tell us it was $2 plant, not a pack of 2, but literally a plant. This makes the price of a flat $48 (24 plants in a flat or 12 two packs in a flat of geraniums), double what we have ever paid for a flat there. They insisted this was correct, which none of it makes sense. I asked them, so you are telling me that if I wanted just one plant for $2, I would have to pull it out of its holder and buy it out of the 2 pack? They said yes, despite everything in that place being sold by either a 2 pack or a 3 pack. This was incredibly disappointing because that clearly is not correct. There was no point arguing.
We ended up going down the road to another greenhouse and buying our bedding geraniums there. Their geranium flats were $29.99 a flat - around what they should be - not $48.
Unfortunately, they lost our business and our 5...
Read moreAll my friends and I buy our plants and yard flags and potting soil here. This a family owned business and they have a friendly and knowledgeable staff. As I walked through the nursery a young gentleman asked me if I needed help and took me to the Shasta daisies. Later I asked one of the ladies about some of the plants that I wanted to buy and which ones would look best together. Two senior ladies were looking to buy some plants to attract hummingbirds and that's what I wanted so they told me about the vermilionaire plant. It looks like a tiny fuchsia plant. Then I headed to the checkout and Adeline greeted me warmly and with a big smile. She told me that indeed the hummers would love my new plant. She placed my plants in a box so that they wouldn't tip over and wished me a happy holiday weekend. They treat you like family here and you won't get that at the big box stores. Their plants are...
Read moreMy daughter and I went here to check out the hanging flower baskets .....(after we went to all the other places near where we live and found some and put them on hold)..... the selection is astronomical and flower basket prices were cheaper here than at the other place we had flowers on hold. We had the hardest time choosing. The flower baskets were/are HUGE AND BEAUTIFUL !! CANT SAY ANYTHING ELSE THE FLOWERS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES. Now as for finding someone to help, that kinda is on the slim side. Very busy place ...seemed short staffed. Plus no one really offered to help or take/load up my purchases. (Flowers were/are extremely HEAVY) OVER ALL PRETTY GOOD EXPERIENCE AND TOTALLY RECMD...
