Don’t waste your time going here, unless you just want to practice at the range or putting green. Course has potential but is poorly maintained. Tee boxes were complete dirt and so hard could barely get a tee in. They were also littered with tees, some well pushed in the ground, so obvious they don’t clean them. Trash cans only every couple holes so even if you wanted to throw a broken tee away you couldn’t. Greens were covered in unfixed divots that you couldn’t putt without the ball bouncing and changing direction. Could definitely use some work by greens crew.
Besides that, the pace of play was beyond extremely slow. It was miserable. There was groups of 5, 6, and even one of 8 slowing play down, even though their site clearly states no groups over 4. No ranger or starter helping keep pace going or monitoring. I get it’s a Saturday but I’ve never had it this bad at a course. $$59 for 18 holes with a cart seems reasonable but it wasn’t worth it, this course at most should cost $40. They obviously just want to collect money and not care about guest experience.
After 9 holes I couldn’t do it anymore and went in to ask if they could do a voucher so we could come back another time and the guy in pro shop was so rude and said “it’s a sunny day what do you expect” not caring at all that they weren’t following group size limits or taking care of the course one bit. I won’t be returning. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else.
Also, wasn’t an issue for us as we weren’t purchasing drinks but if you do decide to go note that the course does not sell alcohol unless you have an “annual membership” which I think said costs $3 (fine whatever), but there is a 72 hour waiting so you can’t get...
Read moreDefinitely an underrated spot. The driving range is never as crowded as other places. Never feel rushed at the range. I've played the course a few times and honestly was very impressed with the quality. The back 9 seem to be in slightly better shape than the front 9 which I'm guessing is due to foot traffic, a lot of people seem to only play the front 9. I did not experience any of the conditions complained about in other reviews at all. Greens were in good shape (especially given that the first time I played NJ was experiencing a drought) and many holes are more challenging and entertaining than they look at first glance. All in all, the course is unbeatable for the price and one of my favorites to play in the area.
Staff members are always friendly and helpful. They have a rewards program for the range which gets you a free bucket after so many visits. They also have a bar which you need a membership for, but the membership is extremely cheap and well worth it. Staff will work with you to accommodate groups and outings.
My only real complaint/suggestion would be that they could use a ranger in the field to regulate the pace of play on weekends. I played on a Sunday in September. The course wasn't packed, but there was a group of 6 in front of us, and a group of 7 two holes ahead of us, a few of whom were walking while the rest were riding. There were two or three times during the round where there was a line of 3-4 groups waiting to tee off. Eventually we were able to pass them, but it would be helpful if a staff member was in the field moving the groups along. Overall, this is a great course and well...
Read moreAfter coming to this course almost every other weekend, we seem to really enjoy it here. Couple of beginner/intermediate golfers and a ride along with big camera. It's nice for our group to be able to spend time with each other and be able to work on our game.
The course is pretty awesome. The staff is absolutely wonderful. They really appreciate you coming, and really know you when you go often. We like to be able to play at a reasonable pace of play, without feeling like we are being rushed along. We always offer to allow any faster players to play through, and have no problem waiting at a tee box for the next group to finish.
There are a few areas which I know they are working on. It happens after Covid and all the closures. I know their mini golf is being addressed a little at a time. We'd love to do that one time after our round of golf, but we want to wait for the improvements to take place. There are some quite bumpy cart paths, but it's the tree roots underneath popping the asphalt. Nature will always want to take it's space back.
Make sure you head inside and get a hot dog. They are the best around. Listen for the rooster along the back edge of the course on #14. He's bound to make you crack up while you're trying to concentrate. There was a beaver swimming in the little creek, back when we used to get rain around here. I only saw him once, and I didn't even know he was there to get a picture. I have seen a heron I believe at the lagoon for #11 and #17. My golfers can't make it over the water for #17, so I had time to take some great shots of him.
This course is our home, and we cannot...
