Brunswick Community College — Local services in St. James

My granddaughter had a terrible experience here. She was in with the “Brunswick Guarantee” which is a program that ensures it you maintain a 2.5 GPA throughout high school that you’d be able to come to the community college free of no cost! But, we thought that’d be a great idea but, we were by far wrong. My granddaughter was able to graduate high school with a 4.0 GPA and she wasted 2 years here.. I’m going to let her write the rest of the review..

Hey! So going here was probably one of the worst education experiences that I’ve PERSONALLY experienced. I had high hopes on becoming a doctor and as medical school is VERY expensive I thought that it would have been an amazing idea to spend my first 2 years here for no cost.. Well the saying “you get what you pay for” surely does apply here I suppose.. Because, the professors were very rude to me and weren’t fair whatsoever. Didn’t even care if kids were cheating and one professor even offered to help the kids during the final exam secretly (who was my friend) and that was crazy! I’m fairly sure that’s against a colleges ethics. I’m glad that I transferred to NC state to finish for my bachelors degree. Not worth it in my personal point of view even if you went to a local high-school and are capable of coming here free of no cost. Please if you’d like the best for your future choose something else.. I’m looking forward to come back down here but, maybe move to Wilmington to start my career as a pediatrician (children’s doctor) This college is strong advised against.. Just had a terrible experience with the registrar of this school. I asked her for a turn around time of a sensitive matter her response was “it’s not like I’m throwing it in the trash or anything. I have to get up and walk down the hall.” I asked her what the turn around time would be for her response. I guess she’s not used to expectations or keeping her word, because she got really nasty after that. I ended up after listening to her multiple sighs calling back and speaking to Dr.D. I am awaiting a response. I had s horrible encounter with this school in 2013, and it’s sad to see that things don’t change. The school seems to be overrun with rude staff that can’t and won’t help. Do not waste your time here. The teachers won't answer calls or will ignore your several voice mails or even texts. I came in one day to switch to online courses, nothing more, and when Dirk saw me he gave me trouble for stepping into a building with my sleeping 2 year old in my arms. Even after explaining I had to switch to online because of being a single mom he treated me and her like an issue.
