I love this small hometown grocery store and deli ❤️ I personally know people who drive from all around just to come to the deli for their lunch meat and their salads; macaroni salad broccoli salad. They stay very busy back there in the deli. But they are so nice and so friendly and so fast that it doesn't matter that it's busy cuz it doesn't take but a few minutes to get your order done. I've heard that the pimento cheese is homemade and it is wonderful so I'm going to have to try it soon! They have very good sales on their meat and chicken. They would never tell you this. There are some elderly people in the downtown area near the grocery of that have lived there all their lives and have shopped at the grocery all their lives and when it gets real bad and stays bad for a while the grocery store has been known to make a few deliveries to these elderly people so they don't try to walk down to the grocery to get food or try to drive down to get food. They want to keep their elderly neighbors safe. I love them for that❤️❤️❤️ A negative thing is it's a very small store. A good thing is it's a...
Read moreThis is a hidden gem. If your from this area you may know of this store. Small town grocery meeting the needs of the public. They take pride in old fashioned grocery store values. They come to you and ask you if you need help. Every customer has their groceries escorted out and put in car. Small but their actions speak for themselves. Their Deli and meat department seem to be the most important or busiest area of the store. There are many people that only get dinner from Durand hot Deli meals everyday. This is continuous. They don’t fix food at 10 am for lunch rush. They continually make fresh items through the day. So if it is your first time- just know you will be Greeted as you walk in, and your experience will be a good one. I drive from Danville to purchase all deli items such as slices sandwich meat. Their prices are anywhere from 33-50% lower than Kroger...
Read moreMy issue is not the food but the service. My mother who has severe asthma has shopped there on more than one occasion with no issues until today. She was greater when she entered got all her groceries and when she got to the counter to check out was asked to put on a mask. She explained she can’t wear one due to health issues they still refused to wait on her. The real issue I have here is if your mask is working then don’t worry about others and all the groceries she touched you just put back on the shelf for someone else to touch so your not really that worried about it. It’s a recommendation not a requirement you should probably check into that before you refuse service and loose customers. I just really hate having to give my business to big corporations like Kroger and Walmart instead of the...
