The registration inside the DCMC Portal was simple and the actual checkin at the hospital efficient. The X-ray department staff were knowledgeable, pleasant and efficient. The work was performed by a female student doing her clinical. She was confident and concise in her work, under supervision.
Dr.Taylor Totka and her nurse are very pleasant and also knowledgeable. The pain injections in my thumbs and knee, were very accurate and effective!
My follow up x-ray, this time for my elbow also was performed admirably done, despite the Tech being a male student performing his clinicals under supervision. This office visit performed by Dr. Totka and her female LPN were friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Totka accurately diagnosed tennis elbow or strained tendon.
I agreed with Dr. Totka, that rehab and an elbow brace are the appropriate and conservative starting place for treatment. Because, corticosteroids injections should be used as a last order of treatment and only if necessary, as to protect the soft tissue and muscle from damage. My latest care at DCMC was to have a knee replacement surgery and the second knee Dr. TOMAZEWSKI performed. The last one turned out great and I expect the other leg will too! This is my 5 surgery at Door County Medical Center and they've all turned out great. This surgery on January 6th, seems to have also. Absolutely no drainage, thanks to a good closer, P.A. Topka. Thank you Dr. Dan, thank you both! R.C. Hoover
March 3rd.total shoulder joint repair went smoothly. All the Surgeons staff and allied caregivers couldn't be more pleasant or professional. The culture at Door County Medical Center is the best, bar none. Dr. Tomaszeski is just the best, he's cool, calm, caring and just so pleasant! This was my third joint replacement with Dr. Dan. My rehab has been at the northern Door center has been excellent and the staff there is also just so pleasant and kind! Roger Hoover
I had the 30 minute message gift certificate given to me by the hospital as a gift during my shoulder replacement pre-surgery class. The message was at the Sister Bay facility. The message and the Therapist were really good. My chronic pain has required a monthly message for the past 22 years, so I know a good Therapist when I see one. Thank you to him...
Read moreThe care my mom received at Door County Medical Center was truly exceptional.
From the moment we entered the emergency department, we knew we were in good hands. The professionalism and warmth of the staff were immediately apparent. My mom was visiting me and my husband from Poland when she suddenly became ill and required emergency surgery.
Throughout our stay, the nurses and technicians provided attentive and compassionate care. They explained everything thoroughly and ensured our comfort, even when they were busy. The doctors were highly skilled and displayed exceptional bedside manners. They addressed all our concerns, making my mom feel heard and valued.
The hospital facilities were impressive. The clean, modern, and comfortable environment contributed greatly to our sense of well-being during her recovery.
One particularly touching moment occurred while I was waiting in the waiting room for my mom's surgery to conclude. A man approached me and, without my prompting, offered to cover me with a blanket. It was a kind gesture that meant a lot.
The entire experience at Door County Medical Center in Sturgeon Bay demonstrated the dedication and expertise of the entire team. Our confidence in their ability to provide outstanding care was reinforced, as they consistently went above and beyond to ensure a positive stay.
I am immensely grateful for the care my mom received; I highly recommend this hospital to anyone in need of medical services. To all the nurses from the ER, ICU, and Med-Surge unit, and especially to Dr. Kleman, my family and I are truly thankful for the excellent care you...
Read moreTo the 2 blonde nurses in the emergency department. If you're considering this hospital for emergency care, I suggest you think again unless, of course, you're okay with doing most of the "caring" yourself.
My sister was admitted after a car accident, and from the moment she arrived, it became abundantly clear that basic patient care was considered optional here. Her boyfriend who, mind you, is not a licensed medical professional was the one who had to wrap her injured arm. One would assume that after a traumatic incident involving blood and injury, the medical staff might step in to do their job. Apparently, that assumption was too generous.
Several hours after the accident, my sister still in pain and clearly not stable was expected to walk to the bathroom without assistance. Not one nurse thought to offer help, or even check if she needed it. For a facility thatâs supposed to prioritize patient safety, it felt more like a âdo-it-yourselfâ clinic with vending machines for support.
The nursing staffâs demeanor ranged from dismissive to flat-out neglectful. It's impressive, really, how thoroughly they managed to ignore basic protocols and human decency in one go. If they were aiming for the "least engaged staff" award, theyâre certainly strong contenders.
This experience was not only disappointing it was unacceptable. Hospitals are meant to care for patients, not inconvenience them with their own injuries. A little compassion and basic professionalism would go a...
