THRIFT STORE- found everything I needed for my kids Christmas party, reasonable prices. Toys, jewelry, and household items fully stocked & Friendly staff!
ASSISTANCE OFFICE - Quickly gave me groceries with little information but denied me assistance for everything else that I really needed. (Furniture) was requested, they told me because it was close to Christmas they weren't giving any/or was out. (Utility assistance) After signing paperwork, emailing/giving all requested documents, I was lead to believe the bill was paid because my service didn't get disconnected. The following month my water was cut off & the bill was extremely high. I found out through another service, they never assisted me. "Don't provide all information" was noted in my file. Confused, disspointed & without water until they opened Monday. I followed up Monday & spoke with the office manager "Crystal". I politely told her my service was disconnected. ask why wasn't I notifed or no one followed up about needed more documents. she claimed she tried calling, but didn't leave a voicemail. Immediately switched the subject, to my income taxes. " I Need to know where the rest of the money went & what u spent _ on" she demanded but didn't ask for bank statements only my tax documents. I gave her receipts, showed paperwork on my car & loss of income, housing info, everything she asked for without delay. she said to call back after lunch & she will talk with her Manager. I called back and she flat out said NO, we not assisting you. I offered to donate old laptops from school, she said go pawn it, ask to volunteer & help to earn the $$ she still denied me the opportunity to restart the whole process a month later. Its nothing they could do, after taking all my information... she Told me go get a job, not concerned about my pregnancy being a factor.
Very poor judgement of character, rude, & non caring. Left me in a bigger bind that I was already in & a month without water with two kids. So much for communication & giving to the community. If I didn't need it, I wouldn't have asked.
♥️I hope the next gets the help in a time of need. Otherwise stop false advertisements, update the outdated website, & let other organizations know not to use them as a...
Read moreHomeless. Went in with a voucher for clothes. Grabbed 3 pair of leggings because LIGHTWEIGHT TO CARRY. 3 items on my voucher weren't available. Regular leggings are $2 50. These leggings were darker themed so they classified them as SEASONAL and told me I couldn't get them . I explained that I didn't get 3 items on my list to make up for the dollar difference. They weren't very compassionate or understanding and I had to put them back and pick regular leggings Mind you if I had picked out jeans instead they're priced twice as much as leggings. But again, no understanding. I go back today, got some folders I saw for ten cents each then found paper I liked better for ten cents so put it back. Get to the register and they try to charge two and a half times more then get mad when I tell them what I just said . Their signs said ten cents each . They have signs all around the store saying ALL PROCEEDS GO TO LOW INCOME SULPHUR RESIDENTS. Make your mind up. I have no income and no home and look at your actions. Goes against your words which are apparently hollow . Y'all are aware because I just came in two days ago for a...
Read moreI absolutely LOVE the folks that work here!! I was in need of completeling a few community service hours, Mr Randy and Ms. Jody allowed me to join the force, accepting donations, sorting, organizing as they showed me how this small donation hub/thrift store in this small town provides for the needs to low income or emergency assistance. Not only to our local community but even to 3rd world countries. I was blessed and humbled by the community involvement to provide the donations and to.see how much the folks here truly want to give the hopeless hope and the community a resale shop that has what appears to be a "Black Friday" sale every Friday with their 50 cent clothing sale.
