Okay so this is more of a corporate Ace Hardware problem not a store base problem my girlfriend purchase an umbrella base at Ace Hardware in Ann Arbor Michigan the base was too big and would not fit under our table so I chose to take it to the Ace Hardware near my house in Belleville Michigan they would not accept my return because they did not sell that item well here is my problem with that if you bought something at another store as in a chain Walmart Menards Tractor Supply Jo-Ann Fabrics Michaels the list goes on and on you can return that item at any store whether it is privately owned or corporate that however is not the case with Ace Hardware their return policy is Shady do you not tell you that you must return it to the Ace Hardware you purchased it from you cannot buy something at an Ace Hardware and return it to a store other than where you purchased that item from and I think that is wrong it is very misleading and contradictory to the Way businesses are ran this day in age they want to ask do family friendly like in their commercials but yet they are not very family-friendly they're not customer orientated because if that was the case they would be able to accept returns from any Ace Hardware at any other Ace Hardware so now not only do I have to return this item but I have to drive 30 miles out of my way to do so cost me extra gas in a total pain in the butt for something that should not have been a problem if I would have purchased it at a local hardware store Like Home Depot or Lowe's I can return that item to any hardware store Menards Home Depot or Lowe's at any time at any location I so chose to however Ace Hardware makes things very difficult I will never ever visit in Ace Hardware again because I think their customer care policy is very shady and works against us. The manager of the store gave me some lame excuse as to why but however I really do not care the reasons why Ace Hardware Store function just like every other store and every other store chain in existence today not...
Read moreHighly disappointed with how I was treated at the pick up/customer service desk when I went to pick up my order. It was a older gentlemen that for whatever reason was discriminating me and decided to basically say I was a criminal. First he asked for my ID and card. I said it was paid for thinking he wanted the card for payment. He said I have to check the numbers cause ppl be scamming with the cards. Ok plausible. Next he says you know not changing your address is illegal. (Assumes) because card address is different im a criminal possibility because of appreciate). Then continues to say you know it's illegal to not have ur address changed. At this point I say are you the police? He says there's one in the store... now I'm not one to complain or make a deal of anything but that actually really annoyed me. He's a 60yr old working as a cashier. I own 2 businesses and work 60+hrs a wk to make sure I have the thing I want....
Read moreI love Sumpter Ace Hardware because they have such a large array of products, things that you use every day, plus what seems to me to be specialty items. More than once, my mechanic/electrician boyfriend has sent me there with an old part (things that I can't even begin to remember the name of, they're so obscure to me) that he wants replaced and one of the men working there will walk me right over to the area and find it for me. Additionally, I have looked at several stores for items that I couldn't find and Sumpter Ace offered to order it for me at no additional charge, which I took them up on. I've even just browsed through the store and found things that I love that I'd never seen anywhere before. It is amazing to me the variety of things that they have in the store and the quality impresses me. There prices are very reseasonable and often the same or less expensive than the megastores. They even cut keys....
