I had passed through Taft a couple of times but never saw this place when it was open; I thought it had been abandoned. However, when it was open, it was busy, and I was convinced there must be a good reason for that. So, I decided to order lunch—specifically, the Red Fish Filet sandwich and batter-fried veggies. I chose the mushrooms as my side. The ranch dressing that accompanied the veggie dish was excellent. The sandwich came in a large bun and was absolutely delicious! The fried mushrooms were of plenty. Small, hole-in-the-wall burger joint. We drive over from Portland for their tasty fried pickles and awesome chicken nuggets. I must note that the fried pickles are good, even better when they are not sliced too thick! They seem to be hit or miss on this issue, different cooks maybe? They have a local favorite called a tortilla burger that people from all over the area stop in Taft for. There is walk up service only, no drive through or dining room.
