Vacation Tahoe by O'Neal Brokers — Local services in Tahoe City

I did a ski lease at 2560 Lake Forest, unit #3, using Vacation Tahoe and was ripped off at the end by both the condo owner and Vacation Tahoe. Despite being an easy sole tenant, gone half the time, being amenable allowing the owners to enter the condo, generating minimal to no wear and tear, paying the full amount in advance, the owners decided to charge me $170 for sheets that had a stain on them, yet not give me those sheets to use. In addition, Vacation Tahoe charged me $175 for cleaning despite having it cleaned before I vacated the condo and receiving an email from Vacation Tahoe on how clean it was left behind. I am extremely disappointed with Vacation Tahoe and never had this experience when renting with Hauserman, Tahoe rentals or Airbnb.

Update after reading owners response: Note that Amazon charges $25-40 for very nice king size bed sheets, not $170. Doesn't that seem like a rip off to you? I asked for the sheets as soon as Vacation Tahoe notified me that there was a stain on one of the sheets, so I could use them if I had to pay for it. Wouldn't you? But I was told the sheets were 'no longer available'... As for the cleaning charges, I am not the only reviewer complaining about this and I know I left it cleaner than it was when I arrived. I take no pleasure in writing a negative review and gave Vacation Tahoe the opportunity to do right, but to no avail and felt compelled to...

As a North Tahoe condo owner since 1987, I strongly recommend other owners work with O'Neal Brokers/Vacation Tahoe. I have been doing so for more than twenty years; I have also owned condos elsewhere for personal use and rental income and have been a Board member of an HOA, so I'm reasonably aware of the issues that can arise among owners, renters, associations and regulators. I've been pleased and impressed with Vacation Tahoe's ability to navigate all those interests. In particular, I'd recommend them on the following grounds:

1. they're local -- they know the area and its resources intimately; whenever I've needed them to go to my unit for anything I've forgotten to do, they're there right away
2. continuity -- I've had the pleasure of dealing mainly with only two agents in all that time; they know my unit and its contents and needs intimately; they've often replaced worn-out items before I was even aware of the need
3. relationships -- they communicate well with my HOA and its manager
4. payment -- most importantly, they keep my unit rented constantly at fair prices and send payment LIKE CLOCKWORK. I've had good friends who chose other agents based on either low-ball percentage rates or upfront bonuses, and had to fight to get paid. Early on, when I didn't know better, I advertised and rented my unit myself. Never again.

I do not recommend this company. In my experience, they failed to take accountability when issues arose, and their lack of responsibility was extremely disappointing. They even entered our house well after we had cancelled our agreement with them, and signed up with another Property Management company. Very unethical. I called them out on it and got hung up on. The cleaners are notorious for covering up the ring camera so that we can not see what's going on. Very sketchy behaviour. Emailed ring video to them as proof.

IN RESPONSE to Vacation Tahoe (Owner) Take it for what it is, and there are other reviews. No privacy rights were violated. We simply as other properties do have a Ring camera to watch our house, as NO ONE else was watching over it as they were supposed to. She never went to the house to check on things before or after a stay. It was up to Vacation Tahoe to advise their cleaning staff that the agreement was over last month. Intentionally covered the Ring camera before proceeding inside. This would be on them, and having someone come into the house without permission is very wrong. This behavior is extremely concerning, as it involved unauthorized entry and an apparent attempt to conceal her actions. Again, no accountability. Lies, lies, lies.
