I don't know about this place. I really want to like it. The facility itself is great. The staff are friendly and courteous, but I feel like they are asleep on the job in many ways. I've never been able to get a straight answer about how much play time my dogs get when they are in daycare. I took them in one day last summer as a treat (a chance to socialize and a change of the usual boring summer routine). I pulled up the pool cam on my computer while I worked and as luck would have it, I could clearly see my two dogs in a kennel at the lower part of the screen. I knew they would spend rest periods in the kennel, but to my dismay they both spent 5 hours straight in the kennel without being taken to the play area once. In fact I hardly saw any dogs in the play area that whole time. I tried calling, but as seems to be the usual, no answer, just a recording (another issue...they don't answer the phone). I got in the car and went there in person, where they assured me that the dogs had had lots of play time, were having a blast, etc. when I absolutely knew for a fact that was not the case. After my pressing her quite a bit, the girl behind the counter finally admitted that they didn't have enough daycare dogs there on that day to financially justify bringing in staff to manage the playgroups, so the dogs remained kenneled and those employees stayed home. Had I known this was their policy, of course I would not have dropped the dogs off.
Also, recently I had to go out of town for a couple of days and took the dogs there for boarding and 'all day play" at an upcharge. I saw on the pet cam that the dogs were seperated on the second day of boarding and assumed that, although my dogs love each other normally, there must have been some problem. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, even though I had not received a phone call regarding any problems. When I went to pick them up, I waited to be informed about whatever the problem was before bringing it up myself, and guess what? I ended up having to ask about it. It turns out they were fighting and had to be seperated. I don't blame Pet Paradise for the fight, nor do I fault them for seperating the dogs. But, do they not realize that might be an important piece of information to a dog owner?? What are these people thinking? They need to be making note of any such issues and reporting these things to the owners. In my opinion, this is very poor management. At this point, I just don't feel comfortable leaving my dogs in their care.
If all that weren't enough, my dogs seemed pretty stressed by the weekend...
Read moreWe brought our puppy to Pet Paradise for boarding back in October for 2 nights and it went well. Well enough for us to bring him back this past weekend for 3 nights. This time was a very different experience.
We picked up our dog and noticed a little dry blood in his neck. We thought nothing of it; dogs play rough sometimes and things happen. We figured if it was anything to be concerned about, surely Pet Paradise would have let us know. We gave him a bath the next day and he bled a little more so we poked around his thick fur (he’s a husky) and noticed what appeared to be a small wound. This prompted me to call Pet Paradise to see if anything had happened.
When I called, the lady on the phone informed me that they do a health and wellness check every day and there were no reports of a wound or any incident. We cleaned the wound and monitored it for a while. The NEXT day, the wound was swollen and began to smell so we knew something was wrong. We brought him to the vet and the vet advised that it appeared our dog had been aggressively bitten many times around the throat. The vet shaved the infected area and examined our dog to reveal bite marks on both sides of his throat, drastic swelling, and significant bruising all over. The vet advised that it appeared as though a dog latched onto our dog a few times and thrashed around. My dog is now on 2 antibiotics and pain medication, and is very low energy and just not himself.
At this point, I am furious. I understand accidents happen and that they are animals, but the whole point of bringing my dog to boarding is to make sure he is well taken care of and watched over while we’re away. One small bite would have sucked, but I would have understood. For the employees to not be aware of such a significant and vicious attack on my dog is absurd. Either they knew about it and chose not to inform us, or they just weren’t doing their job and were not supervising play but either scenario is extremely unacceptable. I reached back out to Pet Paradise via email 2 days ago and still haven’t received a response. Their one job was to watch over my dog while I was away and they failed to even do that. & it is icing on the cake for them to fail to rectify the...
Read moreLove the set up my dog looked like he was fully enjoyibg himself on camera except for his last two days...but then i picked him up and he has a cut on his face n leg down to the flesh...i didn't notice at first but i took him to get groomed right after picking him up and they immidetaly pointed out the wounds he had. I was very disappointed pet paradise gave me no call to inform me or nothing, but they do give u a call minute's after picking up your dog asking if you have any comcerns and your answer is recorded lol you hear the beep right after she asks (trying to protect themselves i guess) i thought it was strange but thought nothing of it as they called me on the way to the groomers whiile i had no clue of the wounds smh....vet bill close to 500 dollars do to infected wounds his hair still has yet to grow over the wounds it's jus like patches. Very very disappointed in this establishment as i was originally praising this place. . Also i realized if you drive in tge bck of the building close to closing hours you'll hear a variety of dogs crying and like there being tortured im not sure what goes on back there but i was soo concerned when i picked my dog up. I only drove to the back by accident as im new to the area. Please do a complete reseaech before taking your dog there especially other reviews i only wish i did 💔. Needless to say he will never go back there... the lack of communication to tell me what happened or when it took place and the fact the groomers had to point it out was enough for me the infected wounds coupled with vet bill topped it off. Very disappointed...fyi i took him bck only to be disappointed again i sued for breach of contract as there contract says the condition they will maintain my dog they tried to settle out of court if i drop the case. Case still open n i never pickep up settlement money. Id rather the publicity...
