We moved into an apartment at The Cottages at the end of July 2024. The day we moved in there was a puddle of water at the back door. We immediately told maintenance, in which they noted they were aware of the issue. We were never told there was an issue before moving in. We had multiple flooding incidences before Hurricane Milton which caused water to come flooding into our apartment. If we were not home when Hurricane Milton happened, the entire apartment would have flooded. We were up all night with towels trying to stop the water. The only thing corporate offered us was to break our lease and move into a new unit. They offered no thank you for saving the unit from the flooding and offered no help in moving costs. The maintenance workers helped us move for two hours.
Then at our new unit, we experienced a sewage backup after 2 months of living in it which caused the toilet and bathtub to over flow with water, yet again causing flooding in our unit. Turns out there were issues with the sewage line that resulted in major construction being needed. We were unable to flush toilets, shower, run the dishwasher, etc. for 9 days. The only thing corporate offered was the use of another unit to use for the time being and hotel which was not practical given we had several guests staying with us. When we expressed how much of an inconvenience this caused us, corporate still offered us nothing. The units are very clearly poorly built and corporate does not care about the residents. Alyssa, the property manager, and the maintenance team have been so helpful through this process, Corporate are the ones who...
Read moreMy husband and I were among the residents of Unisen Senior Living when it went bankrupt in April 2024, necessitating our relocation within a 30-90 day timeframe. We were overwhelmed and discouraged by the challenge of finding senior living arrangements comparable to our Villa. We decided we would rent an apartment for a year and continue to explore senior housing without the pressure of the time constraints.
We discovered The Cottages because we were craving Papa John’s pizza. When my husband went to pick it up he saw the white flags at the entrance and caught a glimpse of the sign “Cottages for lease”. The next day we drove through the community and loved the privacy and uniqueness of the community.
We made an appointment with Allyssa, walked through a 2 bedroom cottage, loved it, signed the lease, and moved in 30 days later.
Although we continued to investigate alternative housing options, none rivaled The Cottages. The community's exceptional staff, impressive amenities, and serene wetland surroundings have made it an ideal choice.
We have recently renewed our lease for an additional year, looking forward to establishing long-term roots within this remarkable community. We highly recommend exploring this hidden gem. Ron...
Read moreAllysa and Dylan are combative, refuse to deal with items stated in the lease, lack professionalism and do not communicate when there are ongoing issues at the complex. They are GREAT at sales, but fall very short at property management and leadership skills. Very little insulation, mass turnover and ZERO support. Recently asked to pay for an on-site garage for a month during Hurricane Milton. I was told I could not rent monthly, only annually. Given the circumstances and safety risks I would have thought property management would accommodate such a request. I would not recommend moving here. Very dissapointed.
After posting this review, Steve Weiss at Capstone Properties emailed and extended a short term garage rental while property management asked that I remove my post. Until there is consistency (trash being picked up, apps, and internet working) communication (taking accountability for mishaps and letting us know what to expect), and doing the bare minimum,...
