Shop here at your own risk. This was my first time shopping here and it was a truly pleasant experience until I got home and realized some of my meat was spoiled.
As I normally do when I prep poultry for the grill, I soak it in vinegar water and salt to kill bacteria. The smell that came of meat when it went into the water was pungent. I let it soak for a little bit and it became worse.
I brought only the meat that was spoiled back and they refused to give me a refund. The owner wouldn't come out to talk to me. Just be aware, the bottom of the receipt states no refunds or exchanges! I'm not shopping for clothes, this is food. I'm taking it to the health department tomorrow.
Very clean place, the staff was friendly but the lack of response to spoiled food is disrespectful.

**As usual the typical "we sell the highest quality" response. Doesn't change the fact that the meat was inedible. Doesn't change the fact that you have no refunds or exchanges on fresh food purchases and don't have any signs posted alerting customers to that fact.
I stand by what happened, you sold spoiled meat. The cost wasn't that much and thank goodness it wasn't. Glad I only spent $45 total. I'll stick with Teddy's, Aldi and Jewel for my meat purchases. I tested you out for future purchases...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would!!!! BEWAAAAAREEEEE!!!! Do NOT i repeat DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! Their meat is BAD and they know it and sell it anyway!!! I bought about $170 worth red meats from them 2 weeks ago took the meat out to cook it today annnnnd wheeew how it stunk! Had the whole house smelling like spoiled meat. I called them to see if they could replace it or refund it and they had the nerve to tell me that 2 weeks was too long ago and there is nothing that they can do about it. It’s not their problem 😲😲😲 This was the most unprofessional encounter that I have EVER had with an established. Bad meat is bad meat ain’t no way in 2 weeks of being frozen should it have been this way! Now I gotta throw away all of the other meat because it’s no telling what is going on with it! They didn’t apologize or anything they didn’t even care. I wish I would’ve read these reviews before I tried them out (oh yea I was a 1st time customer) I’ll NEVER be back and I hope someone doesn’t get sick due to their negligence. This is the absolute WORST meat market in the south suburban area! Please go find someplace else because this isn’t it, I wouldn’t be surprised if they get shut down and or sued!!! Please go someplace else cuz not only are we out of $170 we have to throw away all...
Read moreFirst time going there tonight. There was a homeless man blocking off the carts, asking people going in if they wanted one, giving them one if desired, then asking for money. I did not feel comfortable taking a cart from someone who clearly wasn't an employee, so I decided on a basket.
Turns out I needn't have bothered with even that much. The prices for what cuts of meat they did have were reasonable, but I was looking for chuck roast and whole pork loin, and they didn't have anything like what I wanted. The chicken drumsticks were well priced, but they were so small that I would've been buying a ton of little ones if I'd wanted them. Ground beef wasn't available in a size under 2.5lbs, which is a weird amount for me to portion and freeze when I'm shopping on a budget and can only afford a little bit of something. And finally, the entire meat locker smelled like chicken that had gone bad.
Overall, I went here only because Howard and Sons in Munster, IN was closed, and this place was open later. But the security was sorely lacking, the selection wasn't anything like what I was looking for nor was it in portions that I wanted, and the whole place smelled like meat that went bad. Will not be back, do...
