On Sunday at 4pm on September 24th, 2023, I was disallowed by the LKQ PickYourPart Blue Island, IL, store staff the service of hauling my purchase and tools to my vehicle in the company's parking lot on the 4-wheeled cart supplied by the store. As I was exiting the store's lobby with my belongings, I was abruptly stopped by security and informed that no carts may leave the store's lobby. In reply, I told them I initially retrieved the cart from the parking lot and that I had no issue with returning the cart back to the store once I unloaded my belongings into my vehicle. The security guard and the store staff refused to allow me to haul my purchase to my car. They said, "That's not going to happen!" I had to carry about 95 pounds of tools and parts about 50 yards to my car in the company's parking lot without any assistance. I have a deteriorated disk in my lower back and this has hurt me dearly!
I have made many purchases from LKQ over the last 15 years. This is the first time I've been treated with such disregard for the few conveniences they have always provided for do-it-yourself customers.
Bottomline, this happened 4pm, an hour before the store officially closed for the day as posted on the store's website (Sunday 9am - 5pm). I recall seeing security cameras around the store which will prove my complaint. Since it's anti-productive to create hardships for customers, I must assume that the LKQ PickYourPart Blue Island, IL, store staff does not want to do their job. They would rather impose hardship restrictions on customers than to collect carts from their parking lot during...
Read morePros Friendly staff at least that day I was at the location Ample parking but I would be careful to not leave tools visible in your windows I was told by Another customer that he had his tools stolen from that spot about a week ago Ok prices
Cons Not well organized Map says foreign cars in one area and domestic on the other but when you are looking for a car or truck you notice they just dump the cars wherever they fit if it’s a Volkswagen and it fits in the Chevy area they will just dump it at that spot makes looking for a car a bit more challenging
They have carts that you can take to hauled your tools and or parts around but they are all beat up all flat tires and not useable
Very messy area I get it it’s a junk yard it’s going to be messy but put some effort and clean up the area at least every other day you have to jump or squeeze over motors just dump in the middle of the path
Not safe when mounting cars on top of the welded rims I was able to move a car side to side that they had just place on those rims not safe at alll
People use the cars as their personal bathrooms I happen to open up a van and found a guy taking a dump inside the van the guy quickly pull his pants and ran out I also found a guy taking a leak on the tire and rim I was looking for yeah I dint buy it .
In my opinion just look for a better spot if this is your only option then it’s ok but I do not...
