Jam-Rock Express Jerk — Restaurant in Thornton Township

Let me start by saying that I’m not one to nitpick or complain over minor mistakes—but what I experienced with this restaurant was far beyond a simple oversight. It was an absolute disaster from start to finish, and I feel compelled to warn others before they waste their money here.

I spent nearly $30 on what was supposed to be their Curry Chicken dinner special, paired with candied yams, steamed cabbage, and a lemon-lime Sprite. Seems simple enough, right? Wrong, instead I received two servings of Mac n cheese (which was cold by the way) and the wrong kind of chicken. Not a single item in my order was correct. Not one. It's almost impressive how thoroughly they managed to mess it up. It’s as if they just threw random leftovers into a container and called it a day.

To make matters worse, I tried reaching out to the delivery driver for help—only to be told that she couldn’t do anything and that I’d need to contact the restaurant directly. Fine. I called the store. Five times. During business hours. Not once did anyone pick up. No voicemail, no call back, no nothing. They were clearly open, but just blatantly ignoring the phone.

This level of disregard for customers is absolutely unacceptable. If you're running a food service business and you can't even be bothered to deliver the right meal—or pick up the phone when something goes wrong—you shouldn't be in business at all. It’s clear this place has zero respect for the people who are actually keeping them afloat.

I will never order from this place again, and I highly suggest you don’t either unless you enjoy being disappointed, ignored, and robbed of your hard-earned...

The overall experience was not very good. It took way too long for what we received. We walked in and the staff seemed to be very confused as to what they were doing and as they were packaging up the food they were going back and forth about an Amazon package that was supposed to be picked up the next day which delayed how long we were in the restaurant. they then had us standing there waiting for another 7 minutes for them to package up the sauces. At that point I checked my order and I was missing my plantains once informing the staff that we were missing the plantains we waited almost an additional 10 minutes to get our plantains. While waiting for our plantains, the young staff member went on to talk about weed and even went out of his way to ask me for my phone number as well. Made me feel very uncomfortable. On top of all that when we ordered our food online. Our food order would not submit unless we put a Minimum of 18% gratuity on it. For an 18% gratuity added to my meal without Me being able to take it off my food should have been ready in on time. I walked in at 7:36 and didnt walk out until 7:58. Mind you the food was ready as soon as we walked in. Once we got home the food wasn't very good either. It was very cold. Everything was microwaved I know everything was microwaved because as we were waiting for the sauces and the plantains I just heard the microwave in the back going off and off. The black beans and rice were very dry. The cabbage was very oily and my plantains were underdone. The only good thing was the chicken and even that was a little dry. I don't think I would ever go back to...

This place was awful from the service to the food. I was thoroughly disappointed and unimpressed. I had a call-in order, a younger guy took my order. He was totally incompetent, I had to ask numerous questions in regards to him clarifying the menu. I wanted 2 dark jerk chicken meals- usually comes with sides. The guy, originally told me, "It doesn't come with a side", so I asked what meals they have, he then retracts his statement and gives me a meal and tells me, "It only comes as mixed chicken, white and dark and we only accept cash". I thought, "in 2022, what restaurant doesn't accept cards?", but I was hungry and in the mood for jerk.

Upon arriving to the restaurant, there are two young boys there - no visible adult present. The youngest offered to take my credit card. He was warm, friendly and eager to help. The oldest boy was sitting a a slump. I asked him, "Why did you say you only accepted cash?", his ignorant reply was a smile and ran off to the back area. Very unprofessional!

The food was horrible. The chicken was dry, the plantains was rubbery and had a horrific taste, the cabbage was bad also. I expected, at bare minimum, the jerk to be good, and the rice and peas (red beans and rice) to be edible. However, the red beans and rice were uncooked. The rice was hard. This was such a dissatisfied and disappointment.

I would like the owner to contact me to rectify this issue. This service and horrific experience was unacceptable. The owner needs to know and understand, the young boys running the business in his/her absence will ruin...
