Let me start off letting you know I professionally rate haunted attractions, escape rooms, etc for a side gig so my review is unbiased and completely meant to help others choose whether or not a haunt is for them or not. I am not paid by the attractions to leave a review.
Parking was not bad, online ticketing was easy (paying an extra fee is kind of off when you really have no choice BUT to purchase online). We got there a half hour early and weren't allowed in because it was 10 minutes before our "scheduled time " so we had to leave the line for 10 minutes and get back in line. We asked about upgrading to VIP and the girl was pretty rude and told us she didn't know how line either line was (no radio? Come on. Do better) so we decided to roll the dice which turned out to be a horrible mistake. We stood in line again over an hour, no actors roaming around, no music, zero entertainment while you wait. FINALLY get to the entrance and it started decent with a wagon ride and some interactive actors so that was unique and I thought maybe it was worth the freezing, boring, and long wait. Negative. That was the best part. There were not many actors throughout, the ones that were there had poorly done makeup, some we still aren't sure if they were even actors they had no makeup or costumes, there were no sounds, very poorly done sets set up throughout a corn field, I never figured out a theme, and was blown away at how basic it was. I expected halfway decent for what we paid and this attraction at best is worth a $15 admission fee. We paid to freeze and walk through a corn field at the end of the day. The actors even looked bored. There were a few that did great and were in character but most of the rooms were empty and if there were people they just sat there staring. Not scary. We did not get scared even once, there were no cool props or sets to even say it was cool to see, and the actors were sub par. Overall I do not recommend unless you have young children that scare easily. It would be great for younger kids as there is nothing scary or gory. As far as adults, teens, or anyone who wants a good show or scare this is not the place to go. Hopefully they consider reviews and invest some money into better sets, props, and actors. It has a ton of potential given the location and history of Riverdale rd, plus the corn was an interesting twist. Maybe in a couple years they will really...
Read morePretty awful. This haunt is broken into three pieces all with their individual issues. To make matters worse the price of each of these is what you would pay for a top haunt. It falls flat. Let me cover the three parts individually.
Haunted Field of Screams (Namesake): They really lacked a decent number of actors. The thing started off great with an activity to enter the corn but it really didn't pick up. The length was good but it really lacked anything unique. For the price I would expect some better group control.
Dead Man's Night Maze: Ugh. First off the fireworks were a stupid idea. My ears are still hurting. This consist of a few small houses and about the simplest maze you have ever seen. I only got turned around once. The paint house is a neat idea but it doesn't really cut it for the price of this haunt. The part that sucked was the fireworks in I believe the second house that were set off right next to my ear (instant pain and most likely some lasting damage) if the intent was to maim customers than they achieved their goal. If it hadn't been for this I might have given them another chance next year.
Zombie Paintball Massacre: Cool idea, poor implementation. This is basically a shoot em up hayride. There were practically no zombie actors, don't waste your money on ammo. The next issue is they limit the range of the guns movement. This wasn't a bad idea (people are dumb) but they went to the point that unless you are in the middle of the cart you aren't going to get an angle at any of the few actors...
Read moreHonestly disappointing. It seemed like the actors were bored and underpaid. While I understand that scaring in the cold is horrible (as I am a scare actor myself), you still should put in a lot of effort. Most actors just walked up to you and said some cheesy line, there were hardly any jump-scares. Some of the actors do result to insulting the customers, which was funny, but not scary. I think the actors in this haunt would thrive with a bit of training or guidance.Would’ve loved to see more loud actors, more jump-scares, more screams, more physical acting, etc. I would’ve paid $15 for something like this, NOT $33. I went on a Thursday night with pre-bought tickets. We got in in about 20 minutes, lines were not bad. Pacing is not great though, you will catch up with the people ahead of you.
Shoutouts: • All of the actors on the hayride were awesome! • Windigo at the beginning crawled out of the corn, and he was the only actor to ACTUALLY USE THE CORN!!! • Whoever did costuming and sets did a phenomenal job. • There was a girl towards the beginning who had great vocal control, she went from girl to gremlin real quick! • There was a clown in the corn who got me...
