I recently had the misfortune of getting a haircut at The Lounge, and I must say it was an utterly disappointing experience. While I don't typically write negative reviews, this one is warranted to caution others who might be considering visiting this place.
First and foremost, let me clarify that my dissatisfaction is not directed towards the barbershop itself, but rather towards a specific female barber named Devon/Devin. It became painfully evident that she lacks even the most basic understanding of hairstyling techniques. The main issue was her inability to differentiate between a low fade and a buzz cut. It's bewildering how someone in the profession of cutting hair can't grasp such fundamental distinctions.
When I walked into the barbershop, I had a clear idea of the style I wanted—a sharp, well-executed low fade. However, Devon managed to turn that into an absolute disaster. Instead of delivering a precisely blended transition from longer hair on top to shorter sides, I ended up with a lopsided, uneven mess. The fade was far from seamless and left me looking like I had been attacked by a lawnmower.
Aside from the horrific outcome, the exorbitant cost of this haircut only added insult to injury. I would have expected a masterful cut from a seasoned professional at the price they charged. Regrettably, all I received was a botched job that left me feeling robbed and thoroughly unsatisfied.
In conclusion, I strongly advise against putting your trust in Devon's hands for any hairstyling needs. Her inability to comprehend simple instructions and deliver a competent haircut is truly disappointing. Save yourself the frustration, the outrageous cost, and the regret by seeking out a more capable and competent...
Read moreUpdate: 2/8/25 After coming for some time, I kept having great experiences with Mirhiam, but since she's left I've tried other barbers and they cant cut straight hair, the fades are always uneven, people are high and even when I confirm if they can handle straight hair they say they do and it's not the case. For a curly hair type im sure they have no problem but dealing with straight hair is something I don't know I can go back for. I show them a pic of what I'm looking for and I'm not asking for perfect but the second I get out of the chair or look in the mirror its like I'm dealing with people who clearly don't know what they're doing or want to get paid without caring too much for the results. They need to have barbers with honest results or at least honest words when I ask if they can actually do straight hair. The current barbers which I haven't tried them all but I've tried probably half just do what they want regardless of the picture. It's unfortunate, I hope they have some verification or a way on their website to request someone who can actually do straight hair moving forward.
(Old Review) I had an awesome first time appointment at The Lounge. They were really nice and professional. Mirhiam was my Barber and she killed it. She was very professional and really nice while at the same time showing off her skills. She gave a me a quick consultation of what I was looking for and even showed recommendations. The place was very wholesome and positive experience throughout the whole visit. You could really feel the positive energy from this business. I only saw happy customers come and go for my first visit and I can't wait to go back! I fully recommend anyone who is looking for legit Barbers...
Read moreOther reviewers have complained that they made an appointment for a specific time and then had a long wait. I didn't have that experience - I arrived 5 mins early and was able to get started right away with Marcela, who had taken my appointment online. Maybe this is why the friendly barber by the door made a joke about how long I had to wait? I didn't get it at the time.
Marcela was professional and I'm happy with my cut. $50 for a haircut and beard trim isn't cheap, but she did a good job. It looked good when I walked out and still looks good the day after.
I can't give a stellar review, however, because I found out after my cut that this is a cash-only operation. I didn't have $50 plus a tip on me, so I had to use the ATM machine at the shop, which charges a $3 terminal fee. Nowhere on the website when I booked my appointment did it say "cash only" and if it was posted on the front door, I didn't notice. So this was an...
