This store has made my hometown a worse place to live. Its deceptive appearance of convenience forced our only locally-owned grocery store to close, and the opening of another DG in Greenup threatens to do the same to the IGA there in time. This store offers products in smaller sizes than can be found at Walmart at higher prices. Dollar General isn’t here to help. It’s here because they know once the local store dies, you have no choice. This is what market capture looks like: understocked aisles, price-gouging on basics, and zero investment in the community they helped hollow out.
