If you are looking for an enjoyable experience learning a little about glass blowing in Houston area and want to avoid that “Get Out” vibe then, I would not recommend this place. Maybe give Juggernaut Glass a try.
Why I said what I said below:
Upon arriving at this location a bit late for our appointment, the receptionist was extremely rude and gave a very disturbing act as if someone was pressing her when my date asked if we could reschedule. The first response was they were a small business and rescheduling is not something they do so we would have to make a $200 purchase only. Then, it turned into if he paid the $100 fee the appointment could be rescheduled in the future. However the whole time she acted as if he was yelling or being unreasonable by asking for options to make the experience better since we arrived late. I can’t tell you how disrespectful and overreacting she was in that moment. I wish I had recorded her but, I’m sure the owner has it.
She went on to tell us we could only do a single piece from two small pieces because he took a few seconds to ask about the options we had for potential rescheduling or as she said make purchases. Sadly I think this was due to discrimination and this may have not been the best place for our kind to be in the first place. I mean she wrote impossible next to our appointment before we could even pick an item to make and then later had to erase it and write down the candy bowl we picked.
So check this out. I have a fear of dogs (since I was a child) and the receptionist did offer to put the pet away until our session was over. Later, when picking up our candy bowl made (with a very nice knowledgeable instructor that I honestly appreciated), the owner said the receptionist said we demanded the dog be put away and that she has never been asked to do so in the past. I would have rather stayed in the car than demand you put your dog away. However, she made it seem like we were being unreasonable again as she did the day of our appointment when no one even pressed her. I don’t know the laws for having pets roaming around a very dangerous environment with people handling extremely hot equipment for the first time but, tbh this just sounds like a very bad idea. Putting both the pet and customers in harms way but, I’ll let someone more knowledgeable comment on that.
I could go on about how uncomfortable the experience was because of how this receptionist behaved but I think I’ve said enough. We won’t be back or recommend anyone to visit this location. I hope your experience will be much...
Read moreOn Saturday I visited with a friend who hoped to do holiday shopping in their store. I wasn't sure what to expect and I loved it so much I bought a beautiful vase for my home.
I have never visited a glassblowing studio so I was thrilled with the tour and explanation of the activities that can be booked and some basics about the different types/styles of glass. We also toured the gallery and saw a wide variety of glass art.
My friend was able to find a gift and also picked up pieces for herself. The vase I selected will be a beautiful anchor to my fireplace mantel and somehow the vibrant colors are just perfect for my home. (Now I'm extra thrilled that I didn't just buy the generic vase from the internet that was suggested to me earlier in the year!)
For art that is made and designed by real humans and not at a factory - the prices are good and vary widely. I suspect that there is something for every budget and size need.
I should have taken some photos but I was so busy looking that I forgot. I hope to return for an experience to...
Read moreThere is a gem of an art studio, in Tomball TX, and it is called Three Dimensional visions. I first visited three years ago, when we could participate in a "hands on" glass experience. I made an implosion bowl and had a delightful time doing so. Co-owner Michael spent 2 HOURS showing me all the pieces of their vast art collection, in the hot shop, studio, retail store, and their event space which is practically a museum. It is an exquisite place, and there is truly something there for everyone, from $10 to $1,000 - so many ornaments, lovely candy canes, and fantastic jewelry. I visited again last week, picked up my fall pumpkin and some ornaments, and spent more lovely moments with Co-owner Sally. She took time to show me all the working parts of the oven, in repair, and to discuss all their new glass pieces from the biomorphic and geological series. Whether you are in the market for a glass piece, or just want to feast your eyes on truly inspired pieces of art, go visit Three Dimensional Visions. They will be delighted...
