Now that you responded I will post what actually happened.

Just to be clear 3 people went into the pro shop to complain and not one of them was me because I prefer to handle things this way so others are aware.

I went in after our round to return a Taylormade 8 Iron I found before the other 3 from my group went in to complain

Just to set the scene, it was POURING rain on and off all day Saturday

Our tee time was 11:15 and YOUR RANGER told us to tee off at 11:30 instead to "thin things out", I am sure that wasn't documented of course.

We proceeded to play the front nine and had to actually wait a few times for the group ahead of us as we were taking drops as often as we could due to the poor conditions and it being cart path only which made looking for balls take 3 times longer than normal since we were looking on foot.

Then at the snack shop at the turn after hole 9 we grabbed some beers and snacks and while making this purchase the girls working the shop informed us they are closing soon and we made it just in time.

As we walked away to go tee off after spending about 10 minutes at the snack window the group DIRECTLY behind us rolled up and we had a friendly chat with them so they were clearly not impacted by our pace on the front nine. At no point did we have anyone DIRECTLY behind us waiting, we have all been playing for nearly 10 years and are very aware of how to go through a round on a busy Saturday.

Then I want to say at hole 10 a "ranger" approached us (The guy couldn't have been older than 20 and he informed us that he "just started working here") He said "I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you guys are 45 minutes behind pace" at which point we all looked at each other very confused because this has literally never once happened to any of us in the 10+ years we have been playing.

The kid then proceeds to say something along the lines of "The group behind you is upset because they couldn't make it to the snack shop at the turn in time before they closed and they are mad so we are going to have to give them free beers or something"

This made ZERO sense since we literally watched the guys behind us buying drinks and food as we teed off at hole 10. Maybe it was the group behind them? Regardless that isn't our problem that you close your snack bar at 3 PM on a busy Saturday which is INSANE!

Then he accused one of the golfers in my group of "peeing in a bunker" at which point we realized he must have been referring to when one of my group who is a type 1 diabetic walked away to INJECT HIS INSULIN near a bunker (if you could call it that, almost every single bunker had no sand).

Then at hole 12 the rain really started to hammer down sideways and we took refuge under some trees to wait it out for about 25 minutes and we discussed just bailing on the round and getting a rain delay since the "ranger" came over and harassed like that. At this point we also noticed the group DIRECTLY behind us was also taking shelter under some trees and had propped up some umbrellas on the sides of their cart to also wait out the rain.

I then noticed a few golfers who must have been behind the group DIRECTLY behind us coming down the path and quitting their round.

We decided to continue the round and we noticed that the "ranger" was following us and literally watching us at every hole after that, and then at about hole 16 one of the guys in my group became fed up with it and waived him over to talk.

Mind you when he approached us we had just stepped off the green after putting and had another 15 minute conversation with him and at no point during it did anyone behind us TEE OFF!!! even though the hole was clear, the group behind us wasn't even at the TEE BOX YET! Again what he was saying made no sense.

We completed hole 18 at 4:25 PM which means we were under 5 hours with a 25 minute rain delay and two pointless 15 minute conversations with a "ranger"

As I left I saw the group DIRECTLY behind us finishing hole 18 at 4:58 PM!

How does...

I recently experienced arguably the most unprofessional golf course management in my golfing career at Mainland Golf Course. Spoke with a gentleman over the phone to make a Saturday tee time, only to arrive on Saturday in advance of our tee time and be told that no tee time or registration was completed after our phone discussion. After being belligerently argumentative and throwing the receipt printer behind the pro shop desk, Keith directed us to begin our round as soon as possible as an outing had the course reserved. Upon further harassment regarding our tee time by the starter, it was apparent that our round would be filled by rude interactions with the staff. Upon approaching a tee near the clubhouse with several holes left to play, the facility pro and Keith arrived to halt our progress, despite nearly 30 minutes remaining before the start of the outing. Further disagreement and blatant unprofessionalism resulted as our round was cut short without any compensation or a partial refund.

The extreme lack of professionalism and organization by Lamar, Keith, and the other staff of Mainland Golf Course provided me with a terrible experience during my round of golf. In addition to the rude and unprofessional course management, the state of the course was abysmal as bunkers and fairways were in poor condition.

I will certainly never be back and will urge my friends and family to avoid this course at all costs.

UPDATE: Thank you for the response. While unfortunate that the credit card information was not recorded properly over the phone and the tee time appeared to have been mis-processed, it is fair and reasonable to understand that miscommunications happen. The flexibility on your end to fit us into the schedule was certainly appreciated as well. However, with selective and subjective enforcement of the 12:30pm cart return allowing several slower groups to continue ahead of ours yet staff demanding our carts be turned in, it was very strange to see our group singled out. This was extremely frustrating to see as a paying customer and while I appreciate the response, you have permanently lost a group of...

I would like to share my recent experience at Mainland Golf Course. On Friday morning, I booked a tee time for 1 pm on Saturday. I noted on the website that there were many open tee times that afternoon. On Saturday morning I was unexpectedly called in to work for an emergency. I immediately called Mainland to cancel my round 3 hours prior to the tee time. I explained to the golf attendant that I had a work emergency and he replied, “We are going to charge your credit card for that, because you can’t cancel within 24 hours”. Mainland charged my credit card for $110. I subsequently called and requested the manager and was put in touch with the Assistant Professional for Mainland. He was gracious and offered to provide a rain check for the round. I appreciated the gesture, thanked him and went to pick up the rain checks this Sunday afternoon. The same individual that I had called on Saturday morning was attending the pro shop. I asked for an envelope that the Assistant Pro had left behind the counter (containing the rain checks.) The "gentleman" from Mainland barked, "We ripped (the rain check) up and threw it in the trash." He said there were notes in the system about my cancellation and the Assistant Pro does not have the final say. I play golf 25-30 times a year, and at Mainland 4 or 5 times this year. Regularly during a round of golf, playing partners will ask where I like to play. I have previously recommended Mainland as a good course. Going forward, I can't say that I will either continue to play or recommend the course to other plays. I will share my cautionary story of how they treat their players. I am thoroughly disgusted by this experience and I will never play or recommend the Mainland Golf Course to anyone. I would like to this my experience was unusual but a quick look at Google reviews tells me its not.

Update: I did not threaten anybody. That is a false statement. It is obvious the person committing the offences is the one replying to all...
