B.O.B. Rafting — Local services in Town of Brownville

Had the pleasure of taking a trip recently with B.O.B. Rafting and it was great! We were a party of 13 split between two rafts and every single person had an incredible time. The B.O.B. crew are very skilled and great coaches, and they made sure our excursion was amazing!

We were in the river for about an hour and a half, navigating many sets of exciting rapids as well as enjoying some scenic floats through calmer areas. There is a portage area about midway, requiring the raft to be carried a short distance around a dam, where we took a break and received snacks & drinks. The trip concluded with the opportunity to get in and swim the rapids, which was very fun!

Their location has a large outdoor deck with plenty of tables, where we were able to enjoy a post trip picnic to relax and chat with the crew some more. They also took many great pictures to commemorate the trip. Such a truly nice and welcoming group and we enjoyed them so much!

B.O.B saved the day! We had a terrible experience in Seneca Falls on a houseboat and had to head back to Watertown without getting a chance to enjoy some kayaking with our son. I think I know where Jimmy Hoffa is- he’s rotting in the hull of that houseboat.

Our last full day in the area, a little early in the season, I was worried we’d have a hard time finding rentals on such a short notice. I called Bob at 0900 and although he wasn’t in town, he arranged for another gentleman (thanks Scott) to meet us at the shop (which isn’t even open full time now) a couple of hours later. Scott hooked us up with four clean kayaks, non-smelly lifevests and dry bags (my phone loves the water) for a half day on the Black River.

This area on the river is gorgeous and I appreciated the opportunity to rent for half a day, as it was just right! The river was clean, quiet, and seeing a turkey hen fly over the river made my day.

We two families of 7 people went on the rafting. We all had a blast! Captain Scott ‘s calm voice gave us a lot of confidence, he is very clear in safety and paddling instructions. We also had safeguard Mike on the side paddling along and spot for us. We went through all 9 rapids safely and enjoyed very much the excitement. The last part of swimming was peaceful and much relaxing and rewarded. Thank you Scott and Mike for making this an unforgettable experience for us.

One recommendation: it would be great if somehow a photograph service could be available, ie if Mike could help snap safely some pictures of us through the rapids, we would love to purchase the photos.
