I had a great experience with Howie’s Jewelers. I initially decided to go there for the convenience of their location. My wedding ring (purchased years ago from another store) had a loose stone and was in need of repair. While I was there to drop it off for assessment/repair, I was kindly shown the lack of support with the existing design. It wasn’t hard to understand- especially since I was there for a loose diamond. Replacement of the band/setting was strongly suggested to ensure that I would not risk losing the diamonds over time. I was hopeful that I would be able to get a new band/setting that had the necessary support but looked very similar to what I had . . . I really loved the design and I had emotional attachment to it. I was not expecting such a perfect result. My ring looks so very similar and yet even more beautiful than the first time around. I am very impressed with Howie’s and extremely grateful for their kindness and effort in providing exactly what I...
Read moreThis review is extremely long overdue! I went into Howie's a number of months ago simply to get a replacement band for my grandmother's watch. I was greeted by Howie's daughter, who also works there. Explained what I was looking for, was promptly brought a recommended option for a band that was ideal. Howie came out himself and took care of replacing the band while I was there, not needing to leave it and return. In the ten minutes or so this took I had an enjoyable conversation with both Howie and his daughter about their business, moving to their current location from their previous in South Troy, and their passion for what they do and their current location, as well as the fond memories they had of their original location. It was an enjoyable experience on all fronts. And the price couldn't of been better! I highly recommend Howie's for any jewellery and repair needs...
Read moreI brought a 75 ear old Rolex to Howie to restore, after Rolex charged me $100 and told me they couldn't help me. Howie accepted the watch with the caution that it may take a year to complete the work. I accepted the conditions. I about a year, and after a couple calls Howie found the right parts to fit, and returned my restored Rolex. I was really pleased, and he charged me less than he estimated. I followed up, and had my 7 year old Rolex Submariner serviced. Expecting a $500 bill (a little less than what I was told by Rolex), Howie looked at the watch and said it really only needed to be cleaned up and adjusted. It keeps better time than it has since I got it 7 years ago, and it cost $45 instead. He also fixed a house clock while I was waiting for $15. He could have taking me for a ride, but instead was honest and did great work. I recommend him...
